Does anyone know what I can do/modify on my bike to reduce the heat directly under my seat? I just traded in an 06 Sportster 1200 for an unused 06 XB12Ss. Absolutely the greatest thing I could have done. It's just that everytime I ride know, my a@# get hot. Anything that I can do? | ||

The new Buell will, upon break-in, run cooler. You will also get more used to the heat. Synthetic oil helps a little. On longer rides on hot days I like to fill it up midway and cool the frame for awhile. Congrats on the swap! I rode Hogs for 20 years. Seven years now on Buells. More miles, more smiles. | ||

Wear a dedicated riding suit like those offered by Aerostich or others. You really need another layer of insulated gear between your skin and the motorcycle. Besides, a riding suit will better protect your skin in case of a fall and you won't look like a civilian (newbie) while riding your bike. | ||

I had very good luck using foil-backed adhesive foam pipe wrap under the seat. This is the kind of stuff that I'm talking about: http://www.mclendons.com/item.asp?sku=085610 You need to use some judgment and not put it anywhere that will cause it to interfere with seat latching mechanisms, short out wiring, etc. Since installing it, it seems like the seat gets a lot less hot and more of the heat escapes from the bike. | ||

It must be that time of year again! The boards are full of "It's Freakin' Hot!" posts. Here, try this. . .put a full body kit on your bike like I did! Now that's some heat! It channels it right to your inner thigh! Fun stuff! My plan is to wrap the pipes, and I have a heat shield left over from my stock car, so I'm gonna add that left over piece under the seat. I should have enough to cover most of the area under there. All this will take place in the winter when the rain comes and I can't ride any more, 'cause there is no way I'm parking it right now if I don't have to! | ||

heres what i've found on hot days don't wear jeans, riding pants are a must leather or otherwise.....it makes a huge difference | ||

Thanks for all the posts guys. I think I'll try the ceramic coating as well as riding pants. Can't afford to move to Ireland right now. Maybe next year. |
