Swampy Keep us posted, hope we get good reports. Don't worry too much about the nurses, they're used to crazy people frazzled and popping off, they usually don't pay much attention, especially when they get an apology. They know you're still crazy, but it was out of character to pop off. My Mom had a brain thing 5-6 years ago. It was an odd thing, with bleeding and terrible swelling, but they never found what to fix. They planned emergency surgery, gave us very slim odds, and couldn't find a THING. Had a lot of folks praying, and somehow it fixed itself. With some very minor differences, she's been fine ever since she recovered after a month in therapy. Not long after she was there they told us they had put a drain in to relieve the swelling, we went in to see her. She had a stiff tube sticking several inches out of her head in the hairline just over her forehead, with a tube draining blood. They had said it went deep down into her brain. It was scary, but I was okay until she woke up, started seeing and pointing out all kinds of things that weren't there. She started waving and hooked that tube, it started swiveling all around, I was thinking stirring stick, scrambled eggs, and all kinds of horrible stuff. I jumped up, grabbed her arms, hollered for help, and was trying to make that thing stop moving. The nurse ran in to see what all the commotion was, and laughed at me for two or three days. The tube, she explained was tightly secured and very flexible where it came out of her head, and the part inside never moved at all. Geezzzee!!! So if that happens, don't pop anything, just think about me and giggle. Rotzaruck!!! | ||

LOL! I have been eyeing the box on the counter thas is labled Cranial Access Kit, and can only imagine. The bad part is while I am reading this and laughing myself to tears I find everytime I cry my heart starts palipitations. BUT! I have much better news today to report: Yesterday about noon Terry woke up while her brother and sister were here and stayed up for 2 hours! She was with it! then she took a little nap and had a little macaronni and cheese and chocolate milk for dinner. Then she took a little nap. We stayed up last night and watched TV, House and CSI, for any of you fans out there, and talked from 9-11, then I slept in until 7:45am today! She ate some popcorn, and a chocolate Ho-Ho or something like that while watching TV. Today Terry had her daily CAT scan early and by the time I got back to her room the head neurologist was finishing his report and said it looked like she has turned the corner! Today she was up playing Rummy with her sister Laurie and I. The physical terrorists were in and did an evaluation and got her up in a chair. Terry is still a little tired, try sleeping from Saturday to....whats today?...Wednesday! and still has 44oz sized headache, but its all good! She had half a personal pan pizza and chocolate milk for lunch, I hope she doesn't become a chocolate milkaholic. They are waiting for a bed to open in the 4th floor stroke unit again(I hope nobody remembers me up there) and she will be moved out of ICU. I have to mention that she really didn't start getting better until she started drinking a medicinal efforvessent elixir called Vernors, made in Detroit, by little elves that age the liquid in little oak barrels for 7 years. Most people in Indiana don't know about this, except the people that have migrated from Michigan. It took nearly two hours driving around this strange city to find some. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. | ||

Swampy!! Great news!! Now as soon as she calls you some kinda ugly name, we'll know she's okay!!I'll bet she's got lots of questions about this gap in her life. You could have lots of fun with that(after she's better). DO NOT OPEN THAT BOX!!! scares me I have a question: did the strike cause the stroke, and thats why she was stricken? Or was is stress from the scary storm, or being cooped up in a camper with you for four hours? Or do they, as is often the case, don't know? I gotta go get some of that brain juice elixir Rotzaruck!!! | ||

Swampy - sorry to hear about your wife. My thoughts and prayers to you both. BTW - I have always believed in the virtues of Vernors, after all it is aged in an oak barrel (kind of like bourbon)! | ||

Nc_blasted - I moved your post so someone would read it that can answer your question. I don't visit the Thumper forum much, so if I'm placed this post in the wrong section, my apologies. Swampy - glad to find the follow-up on your wife here. I saw your original post on the Matt Ware Patch thread. My sister has had several strokes (BP related) and has come through rehab with much success. Here's hoping that Terry makes a full recovery and can go home soon. Take care of yourself and don't worry about the nurses. We as family members have to act as a health advocate for our loved ones. Stay on top of her condition, meds, changes, etc. You are the constant and will know without reading her chart what's going on. The doctors and nurses come and go as shifts change. | ||

Great news all the way around! Terry has been up and around! They did the TEE to look on the back side of her heart where they found a defect that is a very common one affecting 25% of the population, it is a hole that is between both of her upper chambers. That is probably where the clot came from. This can be treated with medicines or if bad enough, by placing an umbrella type patch there through a leg artery. A good friend and neighbor lady at church had this done a few years ago. We are waiting for the cardiologist to come through and give us his opinion. Tomorrow when she is less groggy from the TEE the physical therapists will come and evaluate her walking and hopefully say that they don't see anything wrong with her and let us go home. Thats all I have to tell right now, shift change is between 7-8 and they kicked me out just as I was arriving with McDonalds caramel sundaes, one of our favorite health foods(because we eat it with peanuts) Terry is still in ICU because they don't have a room for her in the Stroke Unit. Hopefully she will be the first patient released directly from ICU! | ||

Today the mail brought the new 2008 Buell brochure. The Blast did not get a single page devoted to it! The Blast for 2008 does not get Erik's signature for the 25th anniversary year. You'll see two thumbnail photos on page 41 and the specs on page 45. That's it. As a once and (possibly) future owner, this is perplexing. So here is my theory: The Blast will be discontinued after model year 2008 and be replaced with a variant on the new dirtbike engine. But still I am perplexed.... | ||

Well, it would certainly be one of the best kept secrets, but then nobody really cares about the Blast anyway. Since it hasnt changed since 2000, why make a big deal in a brochure about it. That seems par for the course with unchanged models from most manufacturers.  | ||

Super lame if they do. I thought the bike found a niche. Training/Beginners/Thumper Fans/Ladies/etc. Or maybe like with the VW Bug, Chevy Camaro, Nissan Z and the Toyota Supra, they will take a year off and dedicate it to a major change in the bike. Takes a lot of work to redesign, test, and then retool a manufacturing plant. Or like Erik said, a marketing decision spend money to push the new brand forward bikes. Something to look forward to! Hello all! i just purchased a 2003 blast last week, and it's my first bike. i live about 2 miles from the buell factory, and i'm kicking myself for not getting one sooner. this thing is a riot on the road, and it seems simple enough to work on for a beginner like me. and right off the bat, i have a couple questions. first, there is a weird knocking noise at lower RPMs coming from the front left side when i'm riding. it doesn't seem to make the noise if i just rev it when it's parked. any suggestions? i'm also a 200 lb. college athlete, so i am going to need a little more power out of the midrange and i wanna make it look cool too to get the ladies  but being a college student, i'm also broke as a joke. Does anyone in SE Wisconsin have any aftermarket parts laying around that they didn't like and would like to sell? can't afford HD prices yet. Finally, i heard insurance on these were cheap, but progressive just hit me with a quote for 1 year of me and my father, both having impeccable driving records at 260-something. is there a better company out there? thanks in advance for your input and i plan on being a constant contributing member from here on out. | ||

Welcome Adhd! The weird knocking noise is probably the primary chain and its probably never been adjusted. Theres lots of ideas on mods here at Badweb. Everybody is usually very helpful. Try Foremost Insurance (Farmers) or call HOG or Harley Davidson insurance and they can usually find the best prices. | ||

Mine is $54 a month with a couple of resent speeding tickets. State Farm is the best... The key is to have them as your home owners or renters insurance. That will get the best rates. They ran mine with CC and it came back higher, then they ran it on HP and it came back lower. See if that is an option for you. | ||

Adhdcycler, Welcome to the Badweb! Insurance, try American Country, Farmers. There is a Wisconsin insurance carrier, I forget the name but they are cheap, maybe Dairyland? Good luck! Adjust the primary chain loose and it will prevent alot of problems. Also, great news for me..... I brought Terry home! First thing she did was take a bath, a whole week in the hospital with out one....they released us directly from ICU. Whe is doing great, alittle tired from the 4 hour drive home, but doing splendidly. Actualy it is nothing short of a miracle and truly a blessing as the area affected by the stroke was about 2 inches and the only damage was is she is just slightly unbalanced(probably just tired and she has only been up a couple of times for a whole week) The cardiologists just need to come up with a plan of action to go after the hole in her heart if they think it is necessary and possible to repair. Swampy, just read all the posts. I am glad your wife is home, and all is much better than in the beginning of the week. My wish is for a good and speedy recovery!!! To AdhdCycler: remember to tell the insurance company the bike is 492cc, engines under 500cc are much cheaper for insuring. BikeLine $65/month is all I pay. | ||
