I have heard that they can be slick when wet but today did it almost bite me. Leaving home depot feet in puddle I pulled them up and one just slipped right off the peg. No real issue but it caught me off guard. I think I may try to add some teeth to these stock pegs for a little grip. | ||

IIRC, someone here or on advrider took a centerpunch and punched each little square on the stock Uly pegs. This raises the metal slightly around each punch-mark that will give you increased grip. Touratech (?) makes some really aggressive looking replacement pegs if you want to go that route. | ||

I saw them but they seem to change where your feet reside. I want the same foot position and more grip. I will probably make a slip over toothy beast for this peg come winter. | ||

Try the pegs off a V-Strom. They have a rubber top and fit right on the stock mount. I borrowed a friends for a day and tried them. It rained for 4 hours and my feet did not slip near as much as with the stock pegs. | ||

I put the Touratech pegs on and I love them. I wouldn'tg consider riding without them. You have a lot of room to move your feet around and wherever you put your feet, they stay there like they are glued. I had to shorten my shifter lever as the TT pegs close the distance between the peg and lever. | ||

The V-Strom pegs fit, but they suck. I rode my buddy's with the stock pegs and hated them. Many of the Strommers on ADVRider have been swapping out to the Uly pegs. You might try the S pegs. | ||

I just ordered the American Sportbike pegs. Delivery is set for the 8th. I'll post some pics and give a report.  I don't think there will be any slippage! Tim | ||

I have the crossroads that you are showing, I have short legs and love them, you do loose an inch or so of leg room, but they feel great, the only time I miss it is if I am trying to ride standing in the dirt. Mine required a slight hit on the grinding wheel to fit, but I love them. | ||

Snub, Now those pegs look dangerous. Don't let them grab a hold of your leg. Personally, I like the stockers just fine. I have ridden this bike in snow, rain, mud, etc and have never had a problem sliding off of the pegs. I always wear some good boots. I don't push it as much in the mud or slippery stuff as much as I did when it was new because I have discovered the limits of this bike with it's tires and weight in the loose stuff and don't care to go there too many times. It is funny to see the post about putting Strom pegs on a Uly because I also saw a post over on ADV from a Strom rider who had installed the Uly pegs and was loving them. LOL. | ||

Another tip is to use an engraving tool and "rough up" the stock pegs. Works pretty well, but has to be re-done now and then. | ||

I have had the above photo gnarly spiked pegs for a few months and the are the best...if you ever stand on the pegs while riding they are a must have.... | ||

Oh, bed liner stuff would be a neat trick... I hesitated to take the leap to the new pegs as I'v not had any problems. I still don't know why I got them, they just look soooo cool! They may need to be tamed a bit on the grinder, looks like they would take a big chunk of meat with them if something happened. | ||

The stock pegs are slick...period....MY fix: I drilled and tapped the pegs between the little "dimples" and screwed in stainless steel pointed set screws with lock nuts under the peg to hold them, plus they are adjustable...photo later..if I can... | ||

They're in!!!!!   Finally got them this afternoon. Initial thoughts.. 1) wow these things are mean!  2) wow these things are light!  6.5 oz The removal of the stockers was easy. The new ones are a little big and needed to be filed to fit better, they are still too big as the spring dosen't return the pegs, but I can live with it.     The stock pegs = 11.25 oz  No ride report yet as it's raining. The initial feeling from sitting on the bike is that they are a bit higher but the reach to the shifter/break feels about the same. Adrian_8 I was thinking of that today only I was thinking of drilling and tapping and inserting some sprinters spikes. You could put in all sorts of different lengths but I figure the 1/8 would work fine. Mine are probably more slick because I wear hiking boots all the time. I noticed my hikers are slick on rock also. I will find some better soled boots when these wear out. | ||

I have the pictures to post but cannot figure out how to resize it to meet the size requirement. I have four 8/32" pointed stainless set screws drilled between the flat dimples on each peg. They are sharp little rascals and can be raised or lowered to "taste". | ||

Does anyone know where to buy that spray on bedliner stuff? I am guessing I kinda find it at pepboys or any decent auto parts store but if anyone knows for sure it might save me a trip. I want to try spraying my pegs. | ||

I would think the spray on stuff would make them slicker. I have been inside the beds of the trucks sprayed with it and wet they were as slick as our pegs. | ||

You'd be surprised at how much traction this little mod adds. Probably not much better for mud, but very sufficient for water. Feels like 80 grit sand paper on your pegs, a very noticeable difference. | ||

Well I'm back to the stock pegs.....  The American Sport Bikes' are nice but they are just too much. They are a little higher (more of a bend in the knee with the balls of the foot on the peg) but the bigger issue for me is that they are too aggressive! You can't move your foot at all unless you make a very concerted effort. The center punch trick will do for now, I think I'll look into the bed liner. | ||

I find the stock pegs a little slippery when wet if I am just wearing normal shoes or boots. If I have my motorcycle boots on they are fine. Motorcycle boots should offer better grip on any peg and do. | ||

I have two different pairs of M/C boots and the pegs were slick with both. The pointed set screws fixed it, put them more toward the front of the peg as the peg is angled slightly forward as this is where the foot generally wants to rest as opposed the the rear quarter of the peg. | ||

Has anyone checked out Aprilia for footpegs? Since they know how to make mirrors for a Buell, maybe they have better pegs as well. | ||

Just got done with the center punch mod and a test ride. It works well. I didn't even remove the pegs from the bike. I did support the peg with blocks of wood so as to not transfer the stress from center punching to the mount. | ||

I just rec'd a beautiful set of dropped rider pegs with aggressive tread from Knight Design. American quality with some of the best customer service available. the tread will keep my feet on the pegs and the additional drop will allow for the long haul days. can stand on these pegs and not worry they might snap off on a landing as they are stout, and did I say American made. |
