Found out the freekin power of the Buell front brake today. Was at a light where both the car in front of me and I were making a right turn. We both start the turn, I head check left and the turn my head back to suddenly notice that the car in front of me is stopped for some reason and I am getting ready to rear end the friggen guy. Now mind you , i am only doing about 10 miles an hour but I am ON TOP OF THIS GUY. I grab the front brake and the bike does a front stoppie on me with rear bags on the bike ! After changing my underwear, I proceeded home ! |

Nice!!!! It's amazing how that works. This evening I'm out riding with a buddy. We have the route planned, he is in the lead. We hit a spot that changes from 30 to 45 ( mind you I open up and hit 60 in no time) He decides to turn right then, as I'm pretty much on his ass ready to pass. ( assuming he's accelerating as I am like most of the time in that spot ). I grab the brake and slowed down enough and made the turn. He later said he thought I was gonna ride right up his ass. It's glad to know they are there when you need them. Let's hope none of us actually do.... Really a stoppie and you landed it? That's AWESOME! I'd like to try them one day but I love my bike too much to drop it. |

BTW..My buddy swears by BMW. I've ridden his and others. They are nice bikes. But he rode mine today and had a HUGE smile on it. He loves the motor and admits that maybe it's cooler then he had thought. Wish me luck on converting him. lol |

I know how your buddie feels. I just got off a R1150R BMW. Thought it was one of the best bikes I had ridden until I rode the Buell. |

stoppies are cool! and really not that hard to do. the trick is go fast! about 40-60mph pull in clutch, grab front brake and bounce your butt off the seat a little. be carefull and take baby steps. good luck. |

Yes, I love that front brake. It saved my butt in Montana a few weeks ago when a deer jumped out in front of me while I was doing about 65. The deer was less than 40 yards away. I got down slow enough that when I clipped her hindquarters there was no damage to me, the bike, or the deer. I suspect the ABS brakes on my R1100GS would have done as well, but I know for a fact the Uly handled the situation just fine. |
