After some long hours on the 1125 in traffic and night time riding, I think the tach display should be moved up another 2 inches. Its almost invisible when riding. I have to constantly look down to see if any warnings pop up or other information. This may have been on purpose, but would it be possible to fabricate some plate/bracket to shift this unit up a bit? Just a thought...

I think it's positioned perfect for me at 5'-6". Just about everything is perfect for my size. The pegs aren't too high and it's a comfortable riding position.

I just put about 100 miles on the clock today.

hi donutclub, how would you compare riding ergos compared to your firebolt?; also, at 5'-6" (inseam 30+"?) can you get both your feet down ok on the 1125R? thanks.

Getting my feet down is as easy as it was for the Firebolt. The ergos are roomier than the Firebolt and the stock pegs are just about perfect (unlike the Firebolt). The only thing that I have an issue with is the right mirror. I can't seem to be able to adjust it to my liking. It's a great bike that could easily be a sport-touring bike for me.

I haven't owned an R before, so I was waiting for Donut to chime in....but I did spent considerable time at the IMS in San Mateo going between the R and 1125r. I found the 1125r a smidge lower than the Bolt--meaning I got maybe 3/4 of my foot down on the 1125r vs. 1/2 of my foot on the Bolt.

The pegs are lower on the 1125r (about the same as my S)--without compromising lean angle. this is due to the narrower engine of the 1125r. Also, the pegs are a bit more forward than the R. This rotates your hips forward and makes a more comfy ride all around.

The reach is about the same as the R--but due to the other factors, I feel the ergos are spot on. Sporty, but humane.

PS, my inseam is right around 30-31.

thanks for replying donutclub/fresnobuell; back on topic, it appears the 1125r instrument cluster is housed as a one-peice unit which possibly could be modified / extended out or perhaps tilted forward (just a guess).

Exactly. I'm assuming Al could make a bracket/kit that can move the entire cluster up 1 or 2 inches for increased visibility by us tall guys. I mean, there is enough room to do that there.

Maybe they could change the back ground to a brighter color to see it better just like they did in 2003..Are you guys saying you cant see the tac..or you cant see the digital mph...or the key is in the way to see everything?????

I don't know about you guys, but I prefer NOT to see my dash when I'm riding unless I choose to glance at it.

A lot of guys at the track tape over everything except the tach, and I find that I have a pretty good "butt tach" and can tell when I need to shift by feel.

The 1125 looks like it was designed so that you can see the tach easily out of your peripheral vision.

I think everyone would agree with that statement. I don't see heads-up displays for bikes coming anytime soon.

I think the display would be better if it could be moved up to the bottom of the windshield. Just straight up until it touched the windshield would be great.

I just cannot see it, even with peripheral vision. I have to take my eyes off the road to glance at it. Why? Need to see if any lights are up (whatever it may be), nice to see the MPH as the streets I ride on are heavily policed. On the street, its very useful to me. At least moving it up so I can see it with my peripheral vision would work well. I have to bow my head down quite a bit to see the details.

Im 6'1'' and I dont think I have ever really ridden a motorcycle that I could see the speed without looking down. If Im on the freeway, I can glance down safely, in traffic I just go with the flow and dont worry about my speed.

Socoken, I'm 6'5", so maybe that's why I don't pay much attention to the dash either. I will notice a check engine light or a turn signal light without a problem. I will pick that up pretty easily. Most of the time I'm focused on the road ahead.

I never ride the speed limit unless a cop is around that I can see, so I don't pay much attention to speed. RPM is something I can typically feel, so that's not really important either unless you're racing or something. In fact, I had a Ducati that didn't have a tach. I never missed it.

You cant argue that a display that would be easier to see would be benefical though...

I have a gps in my car... it is positioned to the left of my rear view mirror. For me to glance at my speed on the gps I would guess takes 1/4 the time it would to look at my speedo on the car. My eyes move less translating and less change in focus is required. Overall its much safer to do. Most sportbikes take quite a 'look' to actually see the guages.

Not much we can do about it I wouldn't think....I'm content with where mine is anyways, I hardly look at that stuff when riding or driving, unless I know I'm going way to fast.

Though I must admit If someone made a full digital display I'd buy that in a heartbeat. I used to hate that stuff but riding at night I think its just a little easier to pay attention too.

Actually, especially on long trips, it's much safer to continuously scan your surroundings.
To the point of moving your head, not just your eyes.

If you're driving, tell the kids to shut up and focus on the world, all of it.
If you're riding, you already do.

cyclegadgets and areostich have heads up display, I will get a small shift light to put belowe the windshield, I also mounted my gps on the thripple clamps and will use it for a speedometer, etc, but I have not ridden with it on, so can not give any feed back on how it works. Mike

With so much power compared to my X1 I feel I am always glancing down to check my speeds. It seems the smallest turn of the wrist makes a 7 mph difference. I have had a clean driving record for 15 years and do not want a ticket.

besides a heads up display I have seen for 175 I also seen something like a shift light you program it to a certon speed and when you hit that speed it comes on, if interested contact me at baggermike@verizon.net and I will see if I can find it, but I think the heads up display is a nice idea and at speed things happen fast so a glance down to see your speed and there could be a car or animal in the road, I hate looking down at my speed and going to do something to help me not to speed, I got lucky today I was riding my blast and was wfo at 90 and was comming up on my exit and there was a cop with his gun, good thing I slowed down. Baggermike,

You'll avoid becoming a popular target of spambots if you tell folks to PM you instead of posting your email address on a public forum. If you want to make it easy for the folks, you can copy the URL of the PM link in your profile and post it for folks to click on.

BadWeB PMs are sent to your email address of record.

Just a friendly note from your friendly BadWeB custodian who is looking out for you. : )

Somebody should invent one that fits inside your helmet and projects it out to your face shield like on the windshield in a car. Maybe it could be run off a 3v battery and use a signal sent from a transmitter in the dash. How cool would that be?

And in your helmet VIS, it will analyze the up and coming corner and "paint" the perfect line through the corner.
That would be helpful in a blind decreasing radius. I think we were born about thirty years too soon.
