You might get more of a response if you post this on the Old School board, but I can tell you what I did with my S3 at the track. I'm about 210 with gear. Front damping I cranked to the max for compression because there is no front preload adjustment. I left rebound backed out just 1/2 a turn. I set rear sag at the firm end of 25-30mm, but ended up adding more rear preload at the track to try and gain more ground clearance. I set rear rebound damping at the max also to try and keep the front from bottoming out under hard braking and had compression backed out just 1/2 a turn. Basically I set it up almost as tight as possible to get ground clearance and to keep the front from bottoming out. So depending on your weight you may be quite different. 25-30mm sag at the rear should be a good start. If you're more than 30 at the front then compensate with more front compression & rear rebound damping - or get some heavier springs. good luck. |

Thanks for the reply, I ran it Tuesday at a track day and Peter Kates from GMD Computrak made some complimentary adjustments on it mid day. I may have bottomed out because I snapped off the exhaust manifold studs on the front cylinder and left a session early. Odd thing happened, while the bike was cooling off with a fan on it in the garage the inspection plate that covers the nitrogen refill valve on the rear shock shot off like a bullet. the tank was still full so no harm, must have been from the plate cooling off quicker than the metal around it. Had a blast and it kept up well. |
