Looks like I will be riding down Saturday the 14th to watch the WSC cars run around the Long Beach streets. So look for the guy on the Buell with the full race leathers begging the pit officials to let him out on the track to check for ugh....ugh.... debris, yeah that's it, debris. |

This weekend the SCAB (Southern California Area Buellers) group is goig to ride up to Willow springs to see a couple hours of motorcycle racing on the Streets of Willow, in advance of the Buell Track day there later this year, just to get a feel for the place. Afterwards, we're going to do some riding in the area that Sarodude lives (see 8 posts above). I'll be sending some mail on the details to the SCAB list later today or tomorrow morning first thing. If you aren't on the SCAB email list but want to be, send email to alighton-at-roadrunner-dot-com and I'll add you. Al |

More details: The Weather at Willow this Sunday is supposed to be very nice. Sunday isn't supposed to be windy, temps will be only in the low 80s, clear and sunny. Should be a fabulous day for a ride up there. The plan is to meet in La Canada at the Shell station near the corner of 2 (Angeles Crest Hwy) and Foothill Blvd at 9:30AM. See here: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=34.205374,-118. 199909&spn=0.002063,0.004131&t=h&z=18&om=1 San diego folks, we'll leave Biggs Oceanside at 8AM. Be there gassed, fed, and ready to go at 8, we'll have to scoot to get to the Shell in time. We'll Take Angeles Crest to Angeles Forest over to Antelope Valley and up through Lancaster into Rosamond. We'll get to the track between 11 and noon, hang there for and hour or two, and then be on our way. Where we ride from there and how we head home will be dictated by the folks that are present, so we're playing that one by ear. But here are some maps of the area. http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&oe=ISO-8859-1& hl=en&q=&ll=34.636598,-118.44429&spn=0.299989,0.43 4647&z=11&om=1 http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Harleys+Ro ck+Inn,Calif&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=71.810722 ,111.269531&ie=UTF8&ll=34.711985,-118.412361&spn=0 .149858,0.217323&z=12&iwloc=B&om=1 http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Harleys+Ro ck+Inn,Calif&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=71.810722 ,111.269531&ie=UTF8&om=1&ll=34.834096,-118.274002& spn=0.149637,0.217323&z=12 http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Harleys+Ro ck+Inn,Calif&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=71.810722 ,111.269531&ie=UTF8&om=1&ll=34.755717,-118.481369& spn=0.299558,0.434647&z=11 http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Harleys+Ro ck+Inn,Calif&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=71.810722 ,111.269531&ie=UTF8&om=1&ll=34.352507,-118.328247& spn=1.204029,1.738586&z=9 It's going to be a long day of riding. Ask any questions - here or PM. -Slaughter
quote:Harley-Davidson/Buell of Glendale invites you to join us for a track-day on the Streets of Willow Springs on Monday, June 25th. We will be joining our friends at Hypercycle for a day of riding, instruction, education and some friendly sport riding on one of southern California’s best tracks. With over 15 turns in 2.5 miles of looping asphalt, the Streets of Willow Springs has a little bit of everything from sweepers to chicanes and a banked 180 degree turn. If you have never participated in a “track day” before, the first thing you should know is this is not a race. The day is an opportunity for you to enhance your skill level in a safe, predictable and fun environment. You will learn more about you and your motorcycle in this one day than in months or even years of riding on the street. The group will be split into 3 groups, whichever you prefer to participate in: Novice, Intermediate and Expert. Requirements:A full face helmet Full finger gloves A full leather suit, or leather or Gortex pants and jacket that zip together. (Suit rentals are available at the track if you don’t have one.) Boots (over the ankle) Good tires All lights/turn signals must be taped (this can be done at the track) In order for your track experience to be as safe and enjoyable as possible, we recommend that you replace your tires and brake pads if they have not been changed lately. You will be using them both a lot! Our parts experts can walk you through the many tire options we have available. Don’t wait for the last minute. Registration Info: Register at www.hypercycle.com. When completing the forms online, enter “racer” in the Discount Code, and type in “Buell of Glendale” in the box immediately above the discount code. The price will be $112.50 If you have any questions or concerns at all, please contact Mario at 818 246-5618 ext 109, or email me at Mario@glendaleharley.com We hope to see you all there! Greetings from a Northern Virginia Bueller visiting San Diego... Was riding your awesome roads on Palomar Mt., tasted Mom's Apple Crumb Pie (a la mode, of course!) at Julians, and ended up riding down Old 101 to finish up two awesome days of riding. Along the way, I finally saw a Buell ('04 Firebolt) parked in front of Mothers @ Palomart Mt. Met "Jeff", long time rider, newbie Buell owner, plus a couple of other "Former" Buellers.. Good guys with LOTS of opinions about Buells. Isn't that the case with most of us?? =) Anyways, appreciated the fellow bikers I met along the way, now I have to get back to work... Wishing there was a place I could have rented a Buell, instead I was forced to use a Deuce. Not a bad bike, but I was awestruck at how slow it forced me to go thru the twisties... Probably a blessing in disguise? =) Ride SAFE! Sebastian '03 XB9S(T) |

Doh! I am recruiting friends who ride responsibly to go along on our early July ride. 'Cept I can't remember where it is or which Sunday. Is it Burt's Mega Mall at 8AM to head over to GRR On the 1st or the 8th? Or what? Guess I was too distracted by how much I looked like some shiny new sportbiker wannabe in those shiny new leathers. Oh vey! I better go play in the mud with the mutt before I go out in public in those again. And yes Ebear, scuff up the pucks. Maybe a quick run up to Palos Verde summit this weekend? |

Anybody interested in a legal-speed run backroads up to Laguna - first night in Paso Robles? We kinda keep it legal so we're not single-handedly supporting the welfare state with our fines. Sunny and I will be leaving Palmdale for Paso Robles on Thursday. Will be back to Paso on Sunday night. All other nights will be camping at the Love Shack. |

Slaughter, Check out my post on the "07/19-07/22-LAGUNA SECA 2007" thread. Calidrew and Reindog are slumming it to San Luis Obispo so maybe we can hook up as SLO is close to PR. Sunny and you are welcome to join us at the SLO party if you can fathom the taste of Andrew's cigars. :-) |

I'll run it by Sunny. We might be up a day earlier if Scott Jensen needs us in the pits. We should have enough time to double back between PR and SLO - stay tuned! |

I'll be going on up towards Laguna on Friday with a friend. Have not decided if I'm going the coast or inland route yet. SLO on farmers market night, hmmmmm. I may just have to cruise up there to make sure you have a cold one in front of you Tom. |

Reindog, I read about another route out of Santa Barbara that cuts off the San Marcos Pass. It has deteriorating pavement so you should love it on the Uly. Stagecoach Road runs past Cold Springs Tavern and cuts under the H-U-G-E Route 154 bridge over the river. I forget whether it was in Quick Throttle or American Motorcyclist but I'll find it and ring you up with the details. (If you want to look yourself, it was an article about visiting the Missions north of LA on barely traveled roads.) It also mentions other roads like Foxen Canyon we could take. I can't wait for Bertman to see you in action in SLO, Professor. |
