Hi Court- I have an 06 Uly I bought used and It's an awsome bike. I have a couple of issues with it which I refered to the service manager at my dealer and he got in touch with customer service tech at the factory, and frankly I am not satisfied with the answers he told me he got from the factory. How do I take it further? do I call customer service my self?the issues are notn-satisfactory millage- I get only 40 mpg no matter where I ride and I get strong fuel smell every time I check the oil. Please advice on best course of action. Thanks- Ishai | ||

I don't know what they told you but, if you are not running the engine until it is getting to operating temp before shutting it down, you will have a rich condition and fuel will leak past the rings into the crankcase. This condition may foul plugs plus wipe oil from the rings causing a dry run condition. Don't take my word for it, ask any mechanic of any brand. | ||

My trips are always 100-300 miles long , running at about 4000 or somewhat higher rpm, mostly 3-4 gear, twisty back roads. I never baby the engine nor do I abuse it- no lugging or overreving so I don't think that applies to me. Like I said I get between 39.5 and 40. 5 mpg no matter what I do- interstate or twisties. | ||

Your right hand combined with the altitude of your environment control your gas mileage. Running 4000 RPM in 3rd/4th gear through twisties sounds like 40 MPG + or -. We've gotten 63 MPG running at 65 MPH in 5th gear at 7000'. |
