WHile Eric is on his whirlwind nationwide tour of dealerships promoting the new 1125R, I'd love it if he, in each place, would walk over to the parts counter and ask for either a footpeg or lever for a Buell motorcycle. (ANY model. Any model at all)

I'm gonna say the success rate would be under 10%.

I love my bike but I've decided it's a "mail order motorcycle"

Good point Itchybro. Wonder how parts for the Rotax will be since most dealers only carry the stuff that fits the Sportster. Arguably the most money made by a dealer is through parts and service. I find it odd then that many dealers don't have parts and don't train mechanics for Buells, then whine that the line is unprofitable.

And we all know spelling Eric with a "C" ruins your credibility.

>>>And we all know spelling Eric with a "C" ruins your credibility.

Only in conjunction with 4 unsupported opinions misrepresented as "verified fact".

Other than that if just looks like you as new . . . happens to the best of them.

It's like the salesmen who tell my secretary . . . "I'm a friend of Courtney's. . she'll know who I am".

Okie doke. That explains an email I got from someone who at the very least was "bullish" on the 1125R.

And I thought it was a Monty Python reference.

Long Live Erik with a K!!

(I However am sticking with my wish. If I get to meet him on this swing thru, I may ask him to walk over to the parts counter with me.)

I've looked at a few other forums that are discussing the 1125r and I found an interesting comment. The air cooled Buells and all other Harleys are based on english units of measurement. While the new 1125r engine is developed by Rotax and I believe they build engine using SI (metric) units.

So do the service guys at HD dealerships even have metric tools on hand? I wonder how that will work out, will they just tell you to go to another shop to get it fixed?

Also sorry for possibly Hijacking the thread but this could turn out to be a dealer issue.

Harley's do use metric tools. My 1977 ironhead uses metric fasteners. You men that make these at fact statements need more facts and less statements.

so will the buell mechanics have to be retrained to work on the 1125r, or will they just try to wing it?
