All, According to Court's post in the XB forum, http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=32777&post=938758#POST938758, it appears that the Firebolt headlight issue may be closed to resolved. If so, I want to publicly thank Court for his efforts in helping to collect the necessary data and get this in front of Buell. There's a good number of us who owe you a beverage of your choice Court! |

Court, Is it still too soon to disclose the root cause of the problem and how it was rectified? Glad to hear Buell really was on the move with this, sorry I doubted you/them. I now have one of those great stories about how Buell came through for us, remind me to tell you sometime.... Thanks Court for all your help on this. |

Court, What's going on with the Firebolt headlights? At Homecoming they were still putting on the same old headlight unit on 08 bikes. I specifically inquired about it. So, will they be recalling the 08 bolts I saw them assembling with the old unit? |

920 - from what I understand (and bear in mind, I own 2 tubers) the problem isn't with the initial output, but with *continued* output because the reflectors burn out or crust over. In this case, I suspect longer lasting does in fact = more output...but I could be mis- or under-informed. Riding every night in deer country, I fully believe in over-lighting the road ahead - and having worked in concert production for years, I understand that bright doesn't mean blinding oncoming traffic if the lights are focused / aimed correctly. I even found a loophole in the programming of the wife's Magnum R/T station wagon that allows "euro" setting- the fog lights stay on when using high beams. Awesome. |

The problem is with the deteriorating reflectors - not the actual lights. From what a little birdie told me, the problem was in fact, a supplier problem and if I understood him correctly (we only had the opportunity to talk for a minute or so), the supplier issue has been "resolved". Surely this fix will be made available to the pre-08 models given given the potential safety issue. But don't quote me - this is only an assumption (and you know what they say about assumptions). I hope we see some type of formal announcement from Buell on this - the sooner the better. |

Ok, been away working for a while....So someone is saying its a supplier problem.. Going back to 2003 when the first models were put together, huhh??? Is this correct? Are we sure this is right? This is not the answer I got from Buell when I talk to them... |
