Welcone to the madness... is an understatement. once you get hooked, most are hooked for life and you won't settle for one. before you know it, you'll wonder where it all went wrong. congrats and good luck on the new bike. |

That sounds sooooooo familiar....When I got my first Cyclone, I put 2300 miles on it in two months. Hell, I'd sneak out of the house in the middle of the night, coast down the hill a ways and then start it up and ride away so that my wife wouldn't hear! Did it ALL the time. |

Thank you all for welcoming me in to the Buell family with open arms. I am still getting adjusted to the new sounds and vibrations but it is good so far. Like my big bro said 800 miles and climbing and it has only been 6 days. |

Dude that sucks bout the leak. Is it ok? Hopefully it is just a quick bolt tighten and he is back on his way. You better have over 5,000 on that bike before the season is through.. lol keep smiling |

I feel your pain on just getting it and now the having to work on it...it can be a good or bad thing, guess it's the buells way of wanting you to get more aquainted with it. The bike i bought had been sitting for over a year when I got it so I blame that. -Bike just quit after taking a large road bump...I luckily had a paperclip in my jacket pocket (not sure why), but bent it to shape and put shorted the clutch lever switch and it fired back up. Still there now after 1200 miles. -I finally have the tail light working. -A blown starter gasket= oil everywhere. -Starter got tweaked in removal (+ post turned with the nut when trying to remove) and now needs to be rebuilt. It starts but takes a few raps of the button to get it going and makes horrible noises. -It puts a grin on my face everytime I pull out of my driveway. I'm not much with a wrench, but do all my own til I can't. I guess all the work I have put into it pays for itself with the reward of the thrill of riding off until the next malfunction. |

}well here we go again.... gremlins poping up all over the place.... bike is back at my garage, stator is bad... what gives with this thing.... This Black Belt Said ... I owned a 2002 X1 and put 36,700 miles on the thang.. small problems here and there, but all in all I would have had no problems jumping on it and riding to Florida or some location.. I got a new XB just for the style. Pure astetics... Sorry could not resist.. |

Hey oldog I am the one to that now owns Blackbelt's old X1w. I know this sounds bad but I believe he had no clue that this would happen to me. Yeah I am frustrated about the whole thing but in a way it is all part of owning a HD. If you aren't wrenching on it, it not the real thing. So just a couple of more days and I will be on the road. |

Blak_j: I knew that, sorry about the problems, I was teasing about BB braging about his Former bike being trouble free and then bang, I start up industrial instrumentataion / control systems I have a rule on this subject; NEVER, NEVER, NEVER! BRAG ABOUT HOW WELL THINGS ARE WORKING, WHEN YOU DO, YOU INVOKE MURPHY'S LAW - SURE AS $HIT IT WILL BREAK AT THAT POINT OR SHORTLY THERE AFTER. [ I had this happen more than once, ]} All I tell clients now is that the system is working as expected or work is proceeding as planned. I'm having a flash back to powder coating my PM wheels and how easy it was going to be to install the new wheel bearings, I bragged to my friend that I would be done in under an hour, I scrapped $80.00 worth of new bearings the job took another 2 weeks to complete. In the end some things just break.. I hope you were not offended it was intended as light hearted jest.. |

I guess I was not meant to covert from metric bikes. JK but I have had the worst luck since I got my Buell. This is in no way the fault of the previous owner of this bike. It has been one small thing after another.I am now down for a few more days. I now have to replace a cam gasket. I have no clue what this is, that is why I have a brother who went to school to fix buells. Hopefully with this last thing I will be on the road problem free for a long while. |

What I dont get is how the gasket went bad after this long, some thing is NOT RIGHT HERE!, oil could come from shaft seal ( timing cup ) Oil could come from breather at the aft end of the box why would the gasket fail, loose bolts? |

> cam cover gasket is leaking Ouch, that's a bad one. My M2 did the same thing to me. Here's a thread with my tear down pics. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/204917.html http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/200839.html I'm told it's possible to do this job without taking off the rocker box covers and removing the pushrods as the service manual instructs. If I have to do the job again, I'll certainly try it that way first. |
