so i f'd up and as I drilled the header bolt i screwed it up. I heard that the XB heads are so much better, but am wondering when doing an xb head conversion do I change the cylinder heads or just the rocker covers and all |

What bike do you have ? I have stock Lightning heads sitting on my bench ... they need a new home. .. |

Is it so bad that you can't use a time-sert? Don't use XB heads. Use '04 up XL heads (black highlighted) or '07 Nightster heads (silver). They are the same as XB heads only you don't have to risk f'n 'em up drilling 'em for breather bolts. They are the best flowing stock heads from HD/Buell. They work roughly as well as a typical Stage I ported Thunderstorm head, with a better valvetrain setup (within certain parameters, I.E. cam profiles). You don't have to change the rocker covers...but updating to either the '04XL breather setup (bottom rockerbox also required) or the XB style top boxes (can use your stock bottoms) is a good idea. Either one is better than the older setup, but clearance for the rear breather can be a problem when going with the XB setup. |

You have a thunderstorm engine... so, you will need the heads, and pistons. Chase |

Better yet...get the heads machined for use with Thunderstorm pistons. |
