I rode from Sioux Falls SD to St. Cloud MN yesterday. About 220 mile one way. All in all I have decided a need the seat reworked a bit. The ham glute area was worn out after 100 miles and I squirmed the rest of the way. I also think I am going to try and tilt the Bars back just a bit and put a slight riser in. Maybe around 1/4 inch for both. A nice long trip is just what I needed to get some of the feel for riding back in me. I haven't ridden anything really, till a couple months ago, in 15 + years. The Uly seemed to love the ride and I had to be careful because the speedo kept climbing if I wasn't paying attention. Looked down once and I was at 95mph so I slowed down to the speed limit of course. I do not care for the Uly tall shield it doesn't seem to do 100 dollars worth of protection. I'm 5'8" and at highway speeds60 mph I am still getting a lot of wind and worse helmet buffeting. I do not have to cash to change it again now but I will be looking. |

I'm disappointed to hear about the taller wind shield not working. I've got one on order. I wanted it for a trip to the Black Hills from Texas. |

Windshields seem to be a personal preference thing. I really like the Zero Gravity, but would love to try out some other options at some point. I love the 2007 seat, maybe since it has been so long since you have ridden, you might just need a little more saddle time to build up those motorcycle muscles (butt and right wrist). |

Ksc12c you may like it. I was expecting that for my 5'8" frame I would be under the wind but all it did was take some off my chest and buffet my helmet some more to be fair there was a lot of cross wind and gusting so I am sure that had a big impact on it also. I would also like to try some other shields. I live in Sioux Falls so if you get through here give a ring. I'll grill if I'm in town. Maximum that may well be the case it has been a long time since I did any kind of bike riding. I average about 500 miles a day but that is in a cage for work. I'm sure my wife would volunteer a daily spanking to toughen me up! Doh! Spearfish canyon is a absolutely beautiful ride. Lots of fire and single track trails out there also if you want to go off road. I had to park in a dirt lot today, very uneven cars all around. I darn near dropped the bike, my short legs and no room to use the throttle really was a problem. I have to find a way to get my feet closer to the ground. |

Bertotti, There are lots of Uly lowering threads and options. Depends on how much you want to lower it and how much to spend. |

I could not get my feet planted and keep the bike up, I gave up and put it down very soft. No issue but some grass/dirt on the peg. There have been some posts in here about being 5'8" and what wind shield to use. I think the Zero Gravity was a good for us not tall guys. Horr |

I have been reading some of the threads on lowering. I am putting it off and ranting a bit. I haven't had it off road yet to play with. I expect to crash a few times but hey that's part of the off road thing and practicing. I, unfortunately, need to relearn my limits and the limits of the bike, if that isn't enough then I'll start the lowering process. I do think an extra inch or two would be nice but may not be needed in the long run. I just get peeved when I can't muscle a bigger bike around. I wish the steering stops would allow a few more degrees of turn. I think that would make a big difference, it would have in this case. I have the tall Buell screen and am happy with it; 6' breaks the wind off my torso but keeps my head in the breeze (no issue with buffeting) |

At 6'2" I find my bike much more stable with the Buell tall windscreen. I get buffeted with the stock screen. As far as seats go, my tail end lasted about 3oo miles of a one day 423 mile trip a few weeks ago with the 06 stock seat. My butt went numb after about 10 hours and my knees were not too happy either. OMD, old mans disease. Last weekend Etennuly and I did about 300 miles and I used the 07 seat. Butt numbness was in a whole different area than with the stock 06 seat. At 6 hours of a 9 hour ride My rear and knees went. My new observation is that 6 hours is optimal for a days ride. Anything over this strains my old bones no matter what seat although the 06 stock gives me a couple more hours. BTW we found a stretch of pavement in NC that rivals the Dragon with no traffic. awesome! |

I appreciate your perspective about the 06 seat. I ran 2200 miles over the first 3 days ownership and found the seams caused significant chafing on the backside. Picked up a 07 seat soon afterwards and have been happy since. For me the seat height was not the issue but the comfort was. Got my at the dealer for under $130. Good luck and enjoy one of the best bikes ever built. |

I'm going to wait for a stiller, less windy day, and try both the stock and tall Buell screens. I am wondering how much of my buffeting was a result of the cross winds or the type of helmet I had on. I wore a half bucket yesterday and the buffeting seemed a lot less. Odd. |

Bearly, Since this road has little or no traffic I am going to keep its East Tennessee location a secret. It has a sign showing a very sharp wiggle for the next seven miles. There was not a straight stretch over 150 feet and the turns were well marked and consistent. The pavement was extremely clean and nearly new. It ends on dirt into NC for about three miles then turn left at the dirt intersection where it reenters Interstate 40. Oh I gotta share.....it is rt 32 and it runs parallel to I40 as it goes through the mountain pass to Asheville NC. Awesome ride. Be prepared to stop on one of the inside corner pull offs just to laugh! The dirt NC side continues for another 16 miles but we didn't try that. |

Thank you for letting it out Etennuly. I won't get down there very often to make too much noise. I promise to pick up all my broken parts up off the road when I'm done. That looks like a Hoot. I can't believe how far I had to Zoom into Garmin's MapSourse just to find it! 377 miles south west. Not to bad for long weekend. |

I ALMOST dropped the Uly on the demo rides at MB4. Pulling out of the parking lot, I had to stop right at the steepest part of the gravel hill. It started to go over, and someone in the mass of people behind me yelled... Luckily all got clear and I let out the clutch quickly and just rolled away. |
