My wife just picked up a new laptop, an Apple MacBook Pro with a 17" screen, 2.4Ghz dual processor, 2 gigs of ram, and 160 gig hd. She is in grad school and will be using it for editing still images and video as well as the usual stuff. All I can say is WOW! the last apples I worked with were the first generation macintoshes back in the mid/late 80s. The graphics and the user interface really impress me. Not to mention how easy it was to install software My next computer may be an apple if it continues to be this impressive! |

Wait till you see the new version of the Operating System, Leopard, OS X 10.5 . Coming out in October. Here is a preview. http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/ Oh, and by the way, when you get up, you'll be just in time to stand in line for a day to get your iPhone. http://www.apple.com/ You are getting an iPhone, right? I mean, who isn't?

>>You are getting an iPhone, right? I mean, who isn't? << I've never seen so much 'hate' for a product before it comes out. Todays papers have 5 articles 'hating' it. With no real substance. People like me who have a passing interest are described as rabid. WTF? I don't have a mobile phone - I don't really want one either, but if one comes with my next ipod that's cool, but so much angst about a gadget - I don't understand. |

Hey Brian.. Like a lot of us here on the BadWeb, I use a Mac - As a matter of fact, I use a MacBook Pro 17" - the earlier generation with 2gig and a 120HD - But combined with my external drives.. I've got all the HD I need.. So far. You're gonna love this machine. It's got some really good apps. Just be careful with Aperture (if your using it) there is a glitch that (as this time) has no fix and will slow down workflow. Everything else I've got on mine is.. as you expected, Apple Easy. Let us know if you need any help with anything.. Dave.. How's that MacPro? How is yours configured? If I ever sell enough pictures, I want one.. But the version I want is still more then a new bike so I'll have to hold off quite a bit longer.. |

>>Dave.. How's that MacPro? How is yours configured?<< Not bad, it's the last of the Power PCs - twin dual core and a gig and a half of RAM. Does everything fine. 120gb HD and I have an array of externals. You have to be doing video - or have everything open before you see a progress bar. I just lease them. Good for the tax and always have a gun machine. First job every month belongs to the machines - rest is mine Plus I get new ones every 2 or 3 years. Often I buy them at the end of the term too - quite cheap - I have a G3 G4 and the G5 - mrs has a G3 i'book upstairs on the airport. Happy on a windows box too fwiw. But the creative software has always the the thing I like about macs. These - including the music - were produced on the iLife software that came with the box: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYcyKCjrKlU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4ws1QxW0v4 |

>>Operating System, Leopard, OS X 10.5 . << I hope photo booth works better than that ghastly iPhoto. I'd like something that manages images better - will always use PSd to manipulate. |

Dave, there's something terribly wrong with your iLife software--it reverses all the images so that cars appear to be driving on the wrong side of the road! Seriously, I like those clips! rt |

Apple computer announcement Apple announced today that it has developed a computer chip that can store and play music in women's breast implants. The iTit will cost $499 or $599 depending on size. This is considered to be a major breakthrough because women are always complaining about men staring at their breasts and not listening to them. |

Thanks for the heads up on aperture <sp?> the wife was considering getting it! That's the kind of feedback I've come to expect from the denizens of badweb though As part of the package we also got a 4 gig ipod nano that my son and i are about to declare "Mortal Combat!" over. There is a cool deal for students right now where they will refund $199 on the purchase of an ipod when you buy the mac. Happens to be exactly the cost of the 4 gig nano |
