I set the chain too tight at last service (600 miles ago). I loosened it back to within spec. My question is: have I caused any damage to anything by having it too tight for 600 miles?

Keep an eye on the related roller bearings (engine and tranny sprocket shafts). Those would be the most likely victims of a too tight chain. Hopefully all will be okay.

Strange growling noises and/or new vibrations that vary with engine speed. Lots of metal bits in your primary/tranny fluid.

It has undoubtedly suffered grievous damage. The whole bike is due to grenade very soon. sell it to me cheep.
