Hey folks, I know this topic has been beaten to death but i've searched the archives and I can't come up with a concise and definite answer. I have an '06 XB9R. I had the buell race kit put on (don't want to debate the merits of this decision) I was installing some LED signals and removed the front cowling. When I did I inspected my ECM. this is what I saw; NO "for race use only" warning Part # 32801-02YA (I'm familiar with the issues surrounding this part # and 32814-02YA) and calibration # BX9PA21GB231. my questions are this. 1- is this the correct race ecm for an '06 2- is there a difference between newer ecm's and older ones regarding the center(middle) pin connector (i.e. do some have it and others not?) i have no noticeable performance improvement with this kit (just louder). Dealership has not been helpful and tells me that I have the correct one and won't discuss it any further. I am looking for a concise and clear answer that I can print out and bring in with the information to force them to order ECM part # 82007-05Y as indicated by the website (which by the way says the one I have is for 03-04 and still they are fighting me on it) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

I'm away from all my parts books and such at the moment. But if you have the race ECM for the 03/04 bikes on there instead of the race ECM for the 05+ bikes, you need to change it. The mapping is a lot different. Al |

Hmm. Somewhere I must have missed the discussion on the 9 race ECM changes. What would I want for an 03 XB9R? The 03/04 ECM or the newer ECM? |
