My son won his Cub Scout pack's Pine wood Derby earlier this spring. Here is a picture of his winning car.
After reading all about how most here see this as a 'Daddy's little project' I wasn't sure if I should boast about it. The car is his own design and I tried not to be to pushy with it, that was until it came time to straighten the wheels, please forgive me. Well now he has gone and won our local Soap Box Derby race and will be going to Akron Ohio for the World Championships. July 21st is the race for those who want to know.
For those of you who might say that this is another 'Daddy's little project' I just want you to know it doesn't matter how it's build if the kid can't drive. To be totally honest I thought that my daughter would win this year, she was 4th last year. My son was out last year in the first round. This year my daughter was out in round one. Way to go Jacob |

Very cool! Congratulations Jacob. . . it's much less about what you build than the time spent together building it. Well done! |

That's cool. My son won second place once in the pinewood derby. He has since decided not to participate in the boy scouts? I told him he doesn't know what he is missing. Very cool that your son gets to come to Akron. I live down the road from the track, but can't afford to get my kids involved. Congrats to him and the best of luck in Akron! |

Hey eazy, I couldn't afford the cost of a car either, so I found a business that would buy one for us (now it's 2, my daughter is in another class of car) they get to advertise on the car and the kids get to race them. The only problem now is that the car my son won in can no longer compete at the local race. We will be in and around Akron for a week before the race. I have family living around the Wooster area. Hey if you get a chance give me a ring on my cell that week. I have yet to meet another BadWeber in person. My cell can be found on the R.A.N. here, the second number is it. Later |
