Actually I should have spoked "our wives". . . we are both married to gals that look like little sample people. . . handy if you need an RS odometer reset. Ahhhh. . . the Cushman . . . a true engineering marvel.
I'm at a parade, I suppose 15 years ago, and a woman of considerable girth comes up, seeing the two seats, and hits me with the "oooooooooooooh take me for a ride". What the heck, I tell her to hop on. She sits on the scooter and blaaaaaaaaah. Dead. . . the engine quits. I start banged the kick starter. Finally get her off the thing and the damn thing fires right up. She gets on and the exact same scene gets repeated. By now I am totally perplexiated. We go through this drill a couple times when I spy the ROOT CAUSE (see headlight thread) of the problem and have to control myself to keep from laughing hysterically. Take a look and see if you can figure out why I think this Cushman is so darn smart?

hehehe, the "considerable girth" gives it away! It's a wonder she didn't get a little zap thru the seat pan! Those magnetos pack a powerful wallup, not that I would know from personal experience..... I used to have a sticker on the back window of my lowered truck that said "NO FAT CHICKS, I BOTTOM OUT! BTW, nice model 711 you have there. I restored a 1959 721 Highlander for my better half. |

Take a look and see if you can figure out why I think this Cushman is so darn smart? I think that Cushman trick falls into the 'Priceless' category! 1313 |

Hehehehehe . . . good point! Erik first saw the Cushman at my house in 1990 . . . I think I am seeing a pattern here. Erik may have to answer to the late Jim Lynn who was a designer at Cushman in Lincoln, NE for something like 50 years. I used to run in to him at the national events in Cleburne. Good eye. . . now we're waiting on your trip report! |

Man! My hair was a lot darker in '92. I had more of it, too. My RS looks about the same. |

Hotrats, check the tab on the speedo drive. Mine used to break often on accidental wheelies. I finally cured the problem by brazing a piece of welding rod in place of the original. Still on the original cable. |
