THat's COMPLETE and utter bullshit. A.) They wouldn't use a Suzuki powerplant at this point in time. Not saying that they will never use someone else's engine besides HD. But I'd bet that it ain't gonna be a Suzuki. B.) Buell wouldn't show them a complete prototype. That just does not happen. No way, no how. Matt, you know me. You know I've done tooling for Buell in the past. And this isn't how it works. Either the poster is lying, or his "friend" is lying to him. Tooling vendors are given part models. You can guess if, or if they aren't on a new bike quite easily. But to see the entire prototype? That's not gonna happen. |

Suzuki engine huh? Whats the next rumor gonna be? Maybe a Boeing Aircraft engineered jet engine stuffed in an XB like frame? Maybe even a Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki/Kawasaki/Buell collaboration on an end all water powered (not cooled) engine stuffed into an all new fuel in frame bike..... A giant water cooled suzuki/Buell hybrid does sound cool though. Kinda. My fingers are crossed!! |

"who was telling me that Buell has very recently purchased $150,000 worth of tooling for the manufacturing of a new motorcycle." 150k is chump-change anyway when it comes to an industrial tooling machine. |

What's that smile for, Court? We all think Harley people don't like Buells - you watch what happens if they put a Suzuki motor in one. |

I'm a very happy guy. I remain amazed at the number of folks laboring under the opinion that Buell has scoured the best engineering schools, hired some of the top talent, beefed up every area of the, added a racing division (I don't care what your opinion is, it now exists and is staffed) has MADE A PROFIT SELLING MOTORCYCLES . . .something the Hanlons, Indian, John Britten and others could only have dreamed of . . . and has somehow done this so they can execute a carefully scripted "get our ass handed to us on a race track while we spend out time producing under-engineered products" I've been around this for a long time and . . . well, I'm a happy guy. |

I have a friend who is married to the janitor's sister-in-law who works for the janitorial supplies company that sells toilet paper to the distributor who covers the East Troy region. He told me that the rumors of carbon parts and new propulsion systems are JUST rumors. The truth is that Carbon refers to the new coal-fired engine being developed to counter the high gas prices by taking advantage of our untapped coal reserves. EVERYTHING ELSE is just rumor. Boy. Sure seems to be a lot of people here that THINK they know something. On both ends of the spectrum. What it all boils down to is......who really gives a shit? Will I become rich from it? Will it give us World Peace? Will it stop hunger? Who cares??!!! It is what it is. We'll either like it, or all bitch about it. Either way, my Wife will divorce me if I buy one!! |

Why not offer the bike with different engine plateforms? All other parts of the bike could be the same which would save prodcution cost. Then just adapt in different engine platforms. Would bring in more sales and wider market share. |

As long as Buell keeps thinking about handling first and straight-line second, I'll be happy. If I wanted a Hayabusa killer I'd buy a Hayabusa. Personally, I like quirky and I like twitching and turning. |

You don't think that Harley would pull its financial backing if Buell used a different manufacturers engine (other than an engine builder like Rotex), do you? Remember, the Ammericcis (sp) where marketed as Harley's and were Italian motorcycles. A legitimate question. |

I have friends from Glendale HD/Buell who are racing Aermacchi - 250 and 350 cc singles in AHRMA. Cool little bikes and they were sold by Harley - though I believe a lot of people always called them Aermacchi and still do. |

Bimota and MuZ made money selling bikes with Japanese engines. No reason not to acknowledge quality engineering just because of country of origin. |

You don't think that Harley would pull its financial backing if Buell used a different manufacturers engine (other than an engine builder like Rotex), do you? Unless I missed the news, Buell is Harley, Harley is Buell. If a decision to use another engine was made, it would be a Harley decision. I doubt it would ever be a Jap engine, but I wouldn't bet against a JV with a Euro company. Aprillia or someone else might be eager to get in the mix. |
