Yes that is a Beson, I have one myself , not using at the moment...

Yep - it's a Beson pipe. Believe it or not, it wasn't touched in this get-off.
Tom Beson has had to quit fabricating for health reasons and the pipes haven't been available a couple years now.
Even though it's still in decent shape (couple dents from an old crash) - I'm going to have to replace it because it is too loud to race. |

Hey slaughter, if you would have spent the extra money on sliders and frame pucks that bike would have been fine. |

I gotta think about selling or seeing if I can mod the muffler to make it quieter. Had a local exhaust fabricator look at it but still working on getting use of my left hand back before I start wrenching on the bike. It's a big project. |

rhinehart<sp?> is making the Beson pipe now, or one suspiciously similar.
Hal's sold us one for the race bike. |

I figured I'd likely get a replacement from Hals. Terry said he has one that will pass Autobahn sound restrictions. That's as much as I'll ever need. Not going to ever bother running Laguna Seca (strictest) where some stock pipes won't pass. |

My chain converted XB. Parts and install courtesy of Hal's. except for the "speed holes"
hugger, and sliders. Front sprocket guard is a Norris Performance item. |

Free Spirits belt tensioner.....? Trojan curious if the Free Spirits tensioner was used on the race bike during the brief time it ran a belt.
Unfortunately we were not using one of these at the time the belt broke. I had taken it off for a customer because he was desperate and I was waiting for stock to arrive 
I have never known or heard of anyone having a belt breakage whilst using the Free Spirits tensioner, and we have sold literally hundreds of them. |

What's everybody using for a front sprocket guard??
I just found out that the stock 03' cover Does Not Work with a 21t front sprocket.(and I thought I was done, hehe)
Do the newer stock covers work? Are they bigger?

Saintly rocks. the price of admission for the Hal's conversion is very high.
If it hadn't been done to my bike when I bought it I wouldn't have paid the $2500(?)
for the conversion. the adjustability, and spool mounts that allow the rear wheel
to be removed do make it a worth while mod for a racer, but on the street Saintly's
conversions are a better value for most people.
Like I said before, the Norris billet sprocket guard (also available from Drummer(?))
fits the 03 bikes, like mine, just fine. I can't say if other covers will work though. |

I don't know what everybody else used for front sprocket guard but I never needed a cover and never saw any sign that my boots touched the sprocket or chain... and in racing your feet move around a LOT - but you're usually on the balls of your feet, not the soles/arches.
I wouldn't want to ride with lace-up shoes or boots though.

I carved a lot out of the back side of the original plastic guard and it fits. I just kept cutting until it lay flat.
Two reasons for a chain guard:
1) keep lube and dirt off of the wiring harness
2) boot laces. |

I used a Free Spirits billet cover for a while, then changed to an ultra lightweight Ilmberger carbon sprocket cover. If you want to stick with stock parts then the 06 front cover should fit with the 21 T sprocket. |
