I put the new 07 Uly (passed the 100-mile mark today) in the garage tonight after an easy break-in trip of about 60 miles or so in 80-degree weather. The fan stayed on as usual after I shut the engine down, but when I came back from dinner about 45 minutes later the fan was still running. I put in the key, turned it on and the fan went off and stayed off after I turned the ignition back off. I'm sure the fan is not supposed to stay on that long. I can envision a dead battery on the road somewhere if this continues and I forget to check on it after 15 minutes or so after I check into a motel for the night. Anyone else had this problem and if so, what cured it? Thanks! |

sounds like the temp sensor is not reading the shut off point for the fan. Or the relay that runs the fan is stuck. I am guessing defective temp sensor, or fan relay. |

That sounds like a problem. After shutting the bike down, my fan has never stayed on for more than a minute or two, even in the hottest of temps (115+). Sorry, but I don't have any suggestions other than taking it to a dealer. Good news is you have plenty of warranty time and once the problem is sorted out, you're going to love the bike. |

I'd bet the relay stuck, hopefully just temporarily. If the temp sensor is defective, the problem will repeat the next time he rides the bike. I'd suggest doing some short trips and see if the problem repeats itself. If not, chalk it up to gremlins. If it does repeat, take it to the dealer. |

Make sure the battery is fully charged. Check the battery terminals and especially the ground termination on the frame (behind the fuse box) make sure they are secure. When the battery voltage gets too low. The electronic logic circuits might not respond as designed. Thus a fan that should shut off in 10 minutes, runs on until the battery is stone dead. I see this all the time on cars with similar fan systems. |

Hey Az_m2- Have you rode your Uly all year in PHX? I just moved here from Portland and was wondering if heat would be an issue w/ the Uly on those 110+ days. Thanks! |

When my '07 was new (last month), there were a few times that my fan ran >10 minutes after shutdown. I was concerned but I monitored it. Now, normally about a minute. I'm sure humidity and outside temp play a part in it as well. Just keep an eye on it. BTW, the first time I rode it and the fan didn't come on at all, that's when I was concerned. (just didn't get warm enough) I got 2000 miles on it now. |

Check the wires from the gray connector on the ecm. The ecm provides a ground for the fan circuit to energize it. If you have the right wire rubbed and grounding out it will run until the battery is dead. There is no relay per say involved. |

Yes, I ride year 'round, no problems whatsoever. The right leg gets a little hot in the summer, but the bike runs fine. Welcome to Phoenix! |
