Yeah thats the plan unless something better comes up. I know a couple of roads on the southside to ride and Silverfalls is always a nice ride. Weather has 70+ degrees on every day so should be excellent weather for riding and decent bikini weather too.

Is the wash from 10-12 or 12-6? I had two emails sent and deleted one, the one I kept says (corrected) and has 12-6 listed.

Bikini carwash? Here in Salem? If it's Monday, then I'm there...

Wife & I are riding a short NorCal loop over the weekend, back on Sunday, so there's gotta be a couple hours' of Buell time between honey-do home projects.

Let me know if/when you all intend to attend!

Mark

swede is correct -
i run a drummer with a stock ecm also (but on a 9, not the 12) and so far it's been great. i get a little popping on decel, but to me that just sounds kinda cool...I also asked Kevin at KDFab about switching to the race ecm, and he pretty much talked me out of it...

have fun at the bikiniwash, i won't be able to make it, but hopefully i'll join you all on our next saturday morning ride!

is anyone around this coming saturday, the 26th?

Hey all,
Been traveling on buisnes and haven't had much time to post.

Jim, I'm an XB12ss with stock ecm and standard drummer. the Sweed has the same bike, same ECM and the DrummerSS. We both like them. There's a micron running around here too, but don't remember who has it. All appear to be good choices with slight power gains.

I'll try and do the bikini wash Monday, home front dependant. Bike NEDEDS a cleaning!

Did 560 miles last saturday. 9 hours total ride time. Did 30 East to 101N to Olympia, then 5N to Seattle and rode home 5 south because it was dark and my butt HURT. A few observations:

That seat is good for about 3 hours MAX.
101N from Astoria would be a killer road if it isn't dumping rain.
In the occasional dry spell I did get a couple chances to legg it out.
an 06 lightniig long with a Drummer, stock ECM and rerouted crankcase breather, on a flat road at sea level, 60 Deg F with 195 pounds of rider and gear will indicate a speed of ~130 MPH at ~6200 RPM. It's easy to run out of road at a clip like this so the last few hundred RPM did not come into play, but there is not much more in the bike.
Bike slid on me twice, once I was just too hot for the amount of water on the road, once I came into a right hand curve too agressivly and caught the white strip. Both times the bike stayed stable and held a line after just a few inches of washout.
Bike was perfectly smooth at 80 MPH in top gear cruseing on I5, at 70 it was bumping around a bit with that damm 3K RPM stumble...

C ya all soon!

3k rpm stumble? I don't have this problem and don't want to create one by changing the exhaust. Is anyone else having this problem? Borrowed, have you always had that stumble, or did it happen after mods?

Balls,

Looking at Google satellite image: appears that 2195 Mission is west of Les Schwab (RIP) at the little drive-thru coffee joint... not exactly my choice for a bike meet! There's a deserted grocery store just across Mission on south side, probably a good place to hang out without SUV-crushing worries.

So what time might y'all be heading down here to So-Lame on Monday?

Jim, Spanktastic and I have the Microns, he has a 12 w/ race ECM and I have the 9 w/ Directlink. My ECM had some Air-Fuel problems but has been cleared up and is due to be delivered tomorrow. The bike ran great above 3K but rich below that. Should you decide to go directlink with any pipe you will not have that problem. They tested with '03' ECMs to get the map but the '06'+ ECMs are different so now they know.
The Microns are louder than the Drummer on a 12 if that matters to you.

I'm good on Monday to leave any time.

Jim, not sure what that stumble at 70 mph is. I don't have it. I do have a small stumble or what feels like a partial miss every once in a while at 2800 rpm. Not sure why you would cruise for very long at that RPM though. At 60 mph and up no issues cruising.

Paul, I will soon feel the pain as well. Will be heading to Burns Friday afternoon. Will be interesting to see how it does at 4800 feet elevation.

I will try Monday, but I will just have got back from Eastern Oregon so I am not sure what will come of it.

Jim,
The "stumble" is the partial miss that Sweed talks about. If you have a 12 you already have it, Kevin suggests the Drummer helps smooth this out, but I still notice it. My personal opinion is that the "stumble" happens when the fuel system switches between modes. This happen based on a number of factors, one of which is RPM at or about the 2800 RPM mark (I forget exactly what RPM) but the ECM also take into consideration the Inlet air temp, throttle position Etc, so the point the stumble ocures can be different based on "Luck" if you will. YOu wont notice it under acceleration, just cruseing.

I'm good for anytime to go to Salem, other than earl. I'd like to sleep in.

Well if the wash is starting at noon there is really no use in leaving before 11. That'll give time for others to get south if they come from Vancouver. As far as a route, we will need to figure out how long we want to ride before we arrive in Salem. Then we can give Mark a heads up on approx. meet time.

You can scratch me from Monday, I'm leaving tomorrow for the OR/CA border and won't be back till mid week. Cut off the grader so my fuel mileage should be significantly better with less weight and more stream lined airflow.

Cool, balls! Got to check it out when you get back.

misc. info

Dunlop stockers - 4600 miles before hitting wear indicators

Conti Sport Attack rear - 2600 miles before hitting wear indicators. Front will probably last 5K-6K. Its too bad because I loved how these handled.

I am now testing Road Attacks.

If that does not yield 5K miles +. I will have to try something different like the metzler Z6.

I'm liking my stock Pirellis, I'm @ 3k and they still look pretty good.

Balls, yes the Sport and the Road have the same profile and tread. Only differences is compound. I was down to about 1 mm on the Sports through the center and I had about 3 on the sides. I guess I need to spend more time in the turns then the straights.

Borrowed, there is no meet tomorrow because of the holiday. Our next scheduled meet is June 2nd.

I have been reading over some of the older posts and am seeing some of you talk about "scheduled" meetings one of which is coming up on the 2nd of June. What are these meetings and where are they? I think I've figured out they are on Saturday's at 7 a.m. somewhere in the Beaverton/Tigard/Hillsoro area. Is this just a casual meeting between some of the people on the BadWeb or is it something more official?

Hope everyone had a safe holiday.

We went to Crater Lake (by car) this weekend, but saw quite a few bikes. Weather was in the 70's.

Roads(62 & 138) looked really good if anyone is planning a ride down. At the lake, I'd say be careful in the mornings as the snow melt might have frozen.

Sorry I missed anyone who came down here to do the Salem bikini bike wash...

We got back from our NorCal mototrip late Sunday, after a half day in COLD temps, and that's with heated vest and grips on the Beemer. Had a combination of day-long headache and ToDo errands that kept me at home.

Serious recommendation for the ride we enjoyed! Left after work Friday, rode down I-5 to stay in the Grants Pass area. Saturday we rode to Happy Camp, CA via a tasty two-laner that we 1st enjoyed last year, then to 199 and 96 to Weaverville, then up Hwy3 to Yreka for the night. Sunday we rode up 97 to Crater Lake, then down 138 and an amazing side road back to I-5 and home.

We'll be dooing this same trip every year if possible!

Mark,
While that sounds nice, I dont think my seat (or A$$) is up to that on a Buell!

I did the Bikini bike wash. More of a support small buisness thing. The guy who set it up is on an 07 12r in Black / Red. Good looking bike!

Rode 219 All the way south, then 22 to 214 to 213 north, across the Oregon City bridge and home. Not a bad ride.

May I suggest the following for next Saturday:
Meet at Gators 7 AM on the bikes @ 7:30
pick up 213 south and get to Salem ~ 8:30 or 9 AM Pick up Mark and any other Salem riders at Coffee Nation (~1mile west of I5 on 22) Ride out of Salem on 22, pick up Willamina Creek Road heading north, Follow that to Bible creek road, to Nastuca creek road to NW meadowlake road. Stop in Carlton and decide where to go from there?

Home noonish for us on the NW side...

Basic route is in yellow on the linked map

I am OK with a ride to Salem on the back roads. I may have to head back home after that. I need to try to be home by 10:30. They changed my sons baseball game from 12:00 to 10:00. I can miss the first inning. But I am the one responsible for snacks at the ned of the game this time around.

I did 640 miles over the weekend. Not too bad, I was expecting it to be worse. Phil also joined me for the first 170 miles or so to Bend.

Bike looses a lot of power up at 4800 feet though. I ended up taking a rest stop break every 90 minutes. The furthest I went without stretching my legs was a little over 2 hours. Taking breaks often is key on these Buells for me anyway.

I try to stay off of I5. I find myself doing 90-100 if the roads are too straight (especially riding by myself). MPG also suck at theses speeds 40 mpg vs 52 I got keeping it at 65-75 on 22.

Well, I'm back north with 978 on the trip. Think I'll be switching to some syn oil now that the warmer weather is here and I'm over 4000mi. Starting to get annoyed by the fan.

Aron, you may check your speedo against another bike to see if you are off. My speedo ran dead on w/ a guy I rode w/ down south.

Borrowed, do you mean June 2nd or 9th. I'm very interested in trying to meet up with you guys sometime. This week has been a little crazy so 7 a.m. Sat. may be pushing it for me since I'd be riding down from N. Vancouver to meet, but if that is the case, I will make a serious effort.

Sweed. There's a speedo check station on I5 just north of Salem. If you split off form the group tomorrow you can use it. Brown signs on the Right hand side of the raod. They mark every mile (exactly) for five miles. Two ways to check. One set the trip odomanater at mile zero and verify it's at five miles at mile five. This assumes the odo and speedo are linked. Depending on the firmware, which I don't pretentd to understand, I cant tell you how thru this will be. Second way to check it to take a stop watch and try and hold exactly 60 MPH for five miles, should take five minutes. If your close, so's your speedo, at least close enough to prevent a ticket. After the first pass, you can try varying speeds and use the odo method to verify linearity...
