I got rid of the dreaded cooling fan screaming, but now my fuel mileage is down to 38 mpg. Also, my bike no longer wants to wheelie at will. I'm the door knob that traded my Uly on a wide glide. The wife and I love the bike and its turning out to be a decent handling bike for the raked out beast that it is. I really miss the uly though. I sure miss bad web. I won't mention names, but there is some very lame posts on the Harely site that I've been frequenting. The sarcasm over here is much more subtle lol. I'll check back from time to time. Just wanted to say I miss you guys. Later, Tim |

I can't feel too sorry for you - the Wide Glide is my favorite big twin. I've wondered what kind of mileage the new 95 inchers get and if it's only 38 mpg then I'll keep my 80 inch Road King that regularly gets 50 mpg on the highway. The new models sure are pretty though. |

"but now my fuel mileage is down to 38 mpg. Also, my bike no longer wants to wheelie at will." You know the solution ! |

Most of the Harley guys I know LOVE the wide glide. Many of them have had them and sold them... now they wish they still had it. My dad still has his wide glide he bought new in 2000. It's got about 75k miles on it. |

If you like the FXDWG, this is the last year H-D is making them, along with 9 or so other models. Expect something new from the mothership this year! Smokescreen |

Thanks for the kind words for a traitor like me. Stokizator, I only have 800 miles on the new WG and most say the 96 inch with just slip-ons should get close to 50 mpg on the highway. It may take a couple of thousand miles for the motor to loosen up. This thing has more chrome than I've ever had on a Harley. I usually spend my money on functional stuff, but I can't say I don't enjoy looking at this bike-nice profile. I'll stay tuned to Badweb to see what buell has in the works. The sales manager at the local H-D dealership said he'll see me in a year when I'm bored with the WG. My old Uly will probably still be on his sales floor as they did'nt bother to put fresh tires on it (down to the wear bars on the rear Pilot road) and its priced at $9995. Maybe I'll let it sit there until I can afford to buy it back. Later, Tim |
