weird thing happened to me about 30 min ago. I have been riding for about an hour when i stopped my Ducati Monster friends house for him to hear my special ops can.. I fired it up for him for about 1 min. Stood around a B.S.ed for about 8-10 min.. I said i had to go, he said he wanted to hear it when i take off..... SOOO like any Bueller would do, i took off like i stole it... hit about 70 or so.. hit the brakes because there was a stop sign and i had to wait on a buddy.... looked down and my check engine light was on??? WTF??? Went about 2 miles down the road, came to a stop at a light, it went out.. turned left, got to about 30mph, it came back on and stayed one for about 1 mile untill i had to stop, it went off.. came back on at about 45 and stayed on again for about a mile then went off for good and never came back on the next 5 miles.. Its parked right now(about 15 min) im about to go back out and see if it comes on again.. anyone know why this happened? Did i just get on it to quick from when i started it and the ECM went crazy? dont know, i thought i would ask to see if this has happened before.. Well, im going to to ride for a bit to see if it happens again. Will give an update! | ||

Ian - Your bike will tell you what is wrong. Do you have a factory manual? It tells you how to retrieve the codes that identify where the problem is. Keith | ||

Check your oil level too. | ||

i do have a manual but have seem to misplaced it.. first thing i did was check oil level...its good.. Well, i rode it for about 30 min and the light never came on. So i guess its nothing, but i will never know i guess! | ||

Check your connections to the battery. Mine did pretty much the same thing one time and that was the problem. I need to get a manual and check the codes now because my light has been on for the last couple weeks. Everything is running fine, and I'm pretty sure it is the battery that I put in it. | ||

+1 on the battery connections. Mine did something similar last week. Kept throwing a code for a short to the front injector. Found loose ground connection, and bam! No more check engine lights! Smokescreen | ||

Mine goes on and off randomly. I ran the codes on it. Came back as #15. The Intake Air Temp. Sensor. Replaced the sensor, and still does it. no big deal. It seems like it comes on when i whack the throttle Wide open to pass. It disappears after about 30 seconds. My Theory... The oil vent lines are right next to the sensor in the air box. I think they are puking a little bit of hot oil onto the sensor, making it confused. | ||

My Theory... The oil vent lines are right next to the sensor in the air box. I think they are puking a little bit of hot oil onto the sensor, making it confused. Doubt it, as the vacuum of the intake would cause the oil to be drawn away from the sensor. Either way, get a catch can  | ||

Mine did the same same thing one time with the engine light, it never did it again and that was a couple thousand miles ago. |
