Wolf-If you need some help let me know. I should be able to scare up some participants at least-of course they may trailer thier bikes to the stadium... |

Just talked to Reg, and I'm looking forward to picking his brain a little more. It sounds like the insurance man has this event by the short and curlys but nothing ventured nothing gained. Besides Farrows is looking into that part of it. Keep your fingers crossed. Maybe we will get to do something in the near future. |

Like I said before if it is OK with Reg I would be glad to come down and be the Battle Master for just room and board. |

Is SadSAC a forum? I tried to google this and had no luck. Sorry if that's a clueless question. |

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/406 2/279986.html?1179928928 "Skills Track Competition" if it looks like BattleTrax, sounds like BattleTrax, rides like BattleTrax, described like BattleTrax, timed like BattleTrax.... what do ya figure it is? |

I'm curious as to how they got the event insured based on what you've said previously... |

I've no idea. occasionally there have been dealerships who have been able to umbrella the event under an existing liability policy. However, every agent I've spoken with frowns on this as once the true nature of the event is known to the underwriter they get very upset. Often they get it by their phrasing: "This is a low-speed skills test wherein the rider manuvers around closely-spaced cones." That works for some. However, if something happens and the underwriter finds out that the a clock is involved this can put the policy at risk. |

I'm only goin if it is a true or Reg authorized BT even, I have seen the eveils of a non-BattleTrax hardend fool set up a dangerous course, on hills and 1/4 mile long versions... |

Is that really the part that gives them heartache? So what if you built a device that mounts to the bike, and measures "smoothness". A simple 3 axis accelerometer that plots the curves for the entire run. So as a result of your run, you get a plot of these curves, and you can read them to see how "good" you think your run was. You would see peak cornering G's, and smoothness of your ride. You would plot successive runs on top of previous ones. Those plots would have an X axis... which be based on some sort of time unit, but you would never put the actual seconds on it. So you could say "this run was slower then that one" but never really shoot for a particular time. Call it "instrumented low speed motorcycle control" classes or something. Think that would calm down the insurance agents? Or would they not get the subtlety of the difference? |

Road Rash! owwwwwwwwwwwwwwch! The demarcated area "race track" Vs the controlled area on the BTX course, so if the ride area is taped off its not as good as say an MX course? which has plastic fence, hay bails and berms. IMO it sounds like an excuse to charge Lotsa money for nothing. sorry that some one has done the name calling thing Reg, that is certainly Immature .. |

Lawyers, lawsuits, and Insurance Companies have killed more fun stuff than perhaps anything else ever has. |
