I posted a thread a few days ago regarding a check engine light that had come on.
The bike has been at Meredith Harley Davidson since Friday and I called today for an update.
Apparently their lone Buell tech is out sick and they are backed up.
Normally this wouldn't be a problem but since I am leaving for Myrtle Beach Friday at 5pm, it is very much a problem.
Nothing like going to a bike week without a friggin bike.
350 miles on it and the f**kin bike shuts off when I ride it.
Should I go get it and fix it myself? Or should I bet on them being able to fix it by friday evening.
Or better yet: is there anyone that lives in NH that has some sort of technical knowledge/tools to fix my problem. It seems like a circuit issue is causing the bike to fail. I would pay for gas/parts/food/beer/anything to get my bike back in time for my trip.
Somebody help a fellow badwebber...

Not to sound negative, but I would cancel the trip and let the dealer fix the prob if it is under warranty. I went to MB bike week a few years ago on my 9S and only saw two other Buells there.

Its all about HD riders riding drunk from bar to bar. The city has also cracked down on cruising on ocean blvd. that it is no longer fun. Endless traffic jams.

You would not be missing much. Plan a trip to the Dragon instead. I will be there in a few weekends.

Hmmm, sounds like my trip to Panama City Bike Rally. I saw a grand total of 4 other Buells. I only met one harley guy that showed any interest in my bike, which was only passing. It was a sea of harleys all going 5mph. My left hand is still sore. I'd never been so bored by motorcycles.

If you had a service manual you could run a code check on it. Real simple. You short across two pins read the flashes and look in the book. If you are lucky the solution might be a simple fix.
Maybe the dealer would let you try, without losing your place in line.

organized "bike week" events are really a drag if you planned on going to ride.

i've been to my share of bike weeks, but i have found that i'd rather go somewhere ELSE during bikeweek so i can ride. i can sit down at a bar, get drunk, and peoplewatch anytime.
plus, it's hard to find a DD when everyone is riding. : )

Well cancelling the trip is not an option. I took off work for it and since we are staying about 3 hours from Myrtle Beach its not really a trip solely to a bike week.
We are all getting together down there for some time off and might spend two out of the 7 days actually at the rally.
Rhun,
I do have a service manual. Care to elaborate on what exactly I need to do? I have found that I am the most proficient at doing shit to my bike so I would be down with giving it a try. Better than letting those yahoos at Meredith HD get their grimy hands all over it.
I have read that section in the book but it seems a little confusing. Care to shed some practical/lamen's light on the subject?

I'm tellin' ya...I sure don't miss those problems with H-D stealerships...Ahhhhh...the peace of mind knowing that my cookie cutter can be serviced at least in 12 shops in a 12 mile radius from my house. Nothing like being able to ride my bike to all the functions without worrying about "What's Next?"

Yeah I know Tim and Aaron from getting my bike serviced a couple a times. They seem like great guys and I know at least one of em rides a black firebolt. I did however get my bike back from a TPS reset ad the timing was off, something I had to point out to them. Then when I got it back the second time the idle was high. Around 3k. Something I easily adjusted myself of course. Of course now I am dealing with this and the bike has 325 miles on it.
I will keep you all updated. I am about to head into Meredith to get an update. Keep all your fingers crossed for me.
I guess what I would like is for the guys at Meredith to show me an appreciation for what I believe to be a serious issue: the fact that I might not have a bike for my trip. It doesn't seem to bother them in the least. I know I didn't spend 16k on an HD and another 3k on chrome tassles but sheeze man, show me some respect.

Got the bike back. There was a ground in the area where I had put my new indicator wire bundle. Anyway, all is well in the cosmos. Thanks everyone for their support and especially Gentleman_jon for taking the time to call me up so we could figure it out.
Its nice having friends...

Glad to see it's fixed. In Meredith's defense they have the demo fleet coming for tomorrow and Saturday, so they're busy bees right now. Normally they're very empathetic and have helped me out in a pinch before.

They are still one of the best dealerships and are definitely Buell enthusiastic.

Mr Lions, I realise that your wife decided that you should have a normal quiet bike and all she let you buy was a 600cc pretender. I also understand that you miss your real bike very much. We all sympathise with you and wish you well in you therapy sessions. However, if you have nothing positive and constructive to say on this board perhaps you should just right off.
