I'm wrapping the pipes on my '97 M2 and I need new exhaust gaskets for the exhaust ports. Last time I went to the harley dealer for an oil filter I bought and exchanged it twice, they finally sold me the right one on the third try. I dont want to go there and ask for a buell part because no one seems sure on what I need. If I ask for gaskets for a 97 1200 Sporster will they work for me? Is there a better alternative for replacement parts? Heres a couple pics of my M2 partially disassembled. I need to get it back together, I'm missing prime riding weather. |

I'm not sure of the part number but the screaming eagle gaskets for S1 are heavier than the stock ones. Probably a good idea. I would imagine that the gasket is the same for the M2 |

If I remember correctly the Screaming Eagle ones are flat and wont work very well with the flared end on some of the headers. I've used the flat ones with my old force exhaust, though. |

I bought the Screaming eagle gaskets to install my Force Header on my S1.I was told that they are thicker than the stock part and should be used with the Force pipe. They work fine on the S1. Is there a notable difference between the ports and header on S1 vs M2? |

Just for future reference, I was told by a pretty knowledgeable Buell service guy that if you're using the stock header then buy the Harley gaskets. If you have aftermarket then buy the Screaming Eagle. Which reminds me, I need to go get some too. How about posting some pics of the wrapped pipes? |

I bought a set of both gaskets, OEM and SE. The wrap should get here from Summit by wed, its black 1 inch wide. I'll get some pics up asap. |

The difference is in the type of header flange used. If the flange has a machined or rolled flat edge the S.E. gaskets works best. If it's a tapered or mandrel bent flange stick to the stockers. |
