My friend has been having a 2007 XB12S for 5 months now.
We tried to put a Buell race ECM part N° 32621-03Y.
We made a TPS reset.
We were unable to set the idle and the bike is not running well ( very difficult to start up ) and we can't ride it.
We tried a Buell XB12 2005 stock ECM and it is the same.

So we put back the stock ECM and all is OK.

This bike has a K&N air filter and a Micron full line.

What do you think, do you have any idea ?
Is there a new ECM for 2007 bikes ?
Is there any change in the injection ?

Thanks for your help.

Were you using VDSTS? My system worked great until I bought a brand new Race ECM at Christmas time. All of a sudden it wouldn't connect and when it did it wouldn't properly do a TPS reset so I sent the cables in and they replaced them because it had a weak signal. The Race ECM's have weaker drivers and cause problems with some VDSTS cables which leads to improper set-ups. After the new cable and a good TPS reset and getting the idle set right, I still never liked the way the bike ran on the Race ECM. For reference, I have the '07 airbox, K&N filter and Drummer exhaust. It is possible that the Race ECM doesn't fuel properly for the Micron exhaust since it wasn't designed for it. I think you're better off with a custom map or a tuner.

Thanks for your answer,
yes I am using VDSTS soft.
With my bike 2003 it works very well but, with the 2007 ECM I had troubles with the connection. I bought the cable in February 2006.
May be I have to update it , it's a 2 3 firmware !

I bought my cable in march and it was also 2.3 firmware, but Technoresearch said it needed replaced after receiving and testing it.

I just got the buell race kit on my '05 XB9SX. The mechanic said they had an 03 race ECM, but it was running poorly. They ended up ordering a newer one. "82007-05Y Kit,ECM" on the bill. It looks like some model year differences matter.
Of course the race ECM is meant for the Buell race can, so maybe someone else with a micron has better advise.

If you haven't yet done a TPS re-set, you need to know you MUST set the throttle stop so that when the butterfly is closed it is TOTALLY closed. When the throttle butterfly is closed, it actually wedges in the throat.

If you do a TPS re-set with the throttle at idle, your map will be off at least 1000 RPM and it won't run well.

You have to totally unscrew the throttle adjustment knob. You'll "feel" the butterfly stick in the throat - you have to "Snap" the throttle closed to make sure it's truly closed.

Just my $0.02 - but I've heard of people trying TPS re-sets with the idle stop set in the normal running position. Can't do it.

I made a TPS reset with butterfly fully closed ( I removed the airbox cover and baseplate to see the idle screw )and it was worse after this TPS reset.
I already made many TPS reset ( and I follow the procedure given by Al ) on Buell of years 2003 to 2005, it was the first time on a 2007.

I am going to see with Technoresearch for an update.

Sorry bout that - just wanting to make sure. Heard of folks who "zeroed" their throttles when they were actually set at idle.

I believe with the VDSTS software you need to goto "options" and "ECU/ECM" to make it "identify" which ECM it's tryin' to connect to. I just helped a friend reset his TPS(post Drummer/Race ECM install)on an '07 and it worked fine once it knew which ECM was at the other end...
Just something else to give a try.

BTW: Gotta have that butterfly closed down as mentioned above as well.

Clarification on Kaveman's post...

Before you send your cable in (and you MAY need to to get the pullup resistor added), download the latest SW from the TR site and try with that.

BUT, when you install the new SW, you need to do the step Kaveman mentioned. The old config file doesn't work with the new version of the SW, so it will "forget" which ECM it is. It's worth a try to install the new SW version.

So:
Remove the old version
Install the new version
Under View, select the Interface Cable option (I forget the exact name), and do the TEST there
Under Options, select the ECM type with the bike connected and in the run position.

THEN see if it will connect in gauges mode. If it will, it should reset the TPS.

I tried with the new version and, on the computer I used there was no software from TR.
Is part N° 32621-03Y suitable for 2007 ?

Thanks JP
