Anybody use one on their Uly.I just did 1600 miles in 4 days in hot temps & got a good case of baboon a$$.I was thinking a sheepskin cover would help with the airflow around the butt.Anybody know of a good fitting one for the Uly? Donnie

I have an alaska leather that I used on my goldwing and it fits on the Uly but I do not use it. I use an airvent and like it better. It seems to breath better and also is more comfortable. I have traveled across country with it and no problems. I am not sure what the web address is but if you are interested I will check it out for you. I will also be willing to sell the alaska sheepskin to you at half price plus shipping if you would like it. |

You want some flow, eat some bean burritos and you'll get the flow. Seriously though, I've got a sheepskin that I've thrown over the seat and maybe it helps some but don't expect a miracle. Maybe try one of those AirHawk things. Anyway, I always get monkey butt and it only seems to take a few hundred miles and once it sets in it is there for the duration. |

The biggest cause of monkey butt? jeans or any other cotton under garment. Try bicycle riding shorts, or some of the Underarmor undies. It's the cotton that doesn't let your ass breathe. Once I went to wearing wicking materials, no more monkey butt. Just smooth sailing. Though telling someone that you have Monkey Butt is kinda funny. |

The "compression" shorts from Walmart help as does a sheepskin from www.Alaskaleathers.com. I saw a guy sitting on a full size bearskin on his Harley..that was wild. Did a 4500 mile 14 day with this setup on the ULY. Used a little Monkey Butt Powder. There really is a product so named..probably just baby powder but the box is cool. Got a 6-7K trip coming up May 25 for 3 weeks, will use the same setup. (Message edited by Adrian_8 on May 04, 2007) |

My buddy on his r1150 swears by these. We all call him "gramps" now. http://www.beadrider.com/ |

I think you can get bead seats at Wallymart. |

Thanks,Ordered the airvent.I let the heat catch me by surprise.I left my mesh gear home & got too sweaty I guess.Freakin fan ran constant once it was warmed up.Guess I wasn't the only thing too hot. |

Have you tried Anti Monkey Butt Powder? It does the job really well for me. I bought it the first time at Daytona in 2004 because they were giving away a free hat, but it really worked for me on the ride home; and now, I always use it on long rides. It's available from White Horse Gear, and I've seen it at a few Truck Stops as well. |

Donnie: What size did you get? The one I have is the one that fits the Goldwing and it it a tad large for my Uly. It is cosmeticaly to large and works well, but I was wondering what size you got if I ever repalce mine. |

I have the 13"X13" rider style bead rider, which has been working great to fight monkey butt. The only downside is that it makes the seat more slippery and a bit taller. |

Are those beads actually comfortable to sit on? I just can't bring myself to try one because "logically" sitting on beads just doesn't seem comfortable. I've never heard a bad thing about them though. |

A friend of mine bought a set from beadrider.com and says he loves them. They are not very pretty but he says they work well. |

Jmhinkle: They work surprisingly well. On a hard surface they would be painful, however on a cushy seat they sink in and work great. They flow a lot of air to your bottom which along with breathable pants helps keep monkey butt at bay. If you are struggling to touch mother earth however, they could cause problems with added height and a tendency for the bike to "roll" to either side. I used the 10X13 Uly Passenger seat beads on my DRZ on my last trip to Mexico and they worked great as well. I had a bunch of river crossings (40+) and never had issue with my butt staying wet. Wet feet were another story. Offroading does take its toll on the beads however, as the sand and mud have dulled the glossy black finish. |

Paochow, now that you've had them in a bit, do the '07 springs help with the front end dive? |

Big time. I did a ~400 mi ride through the Gila National forest a few weeks back and came back very pleased with the new springs and the Uly in general. We did approximately 100 miles of dirt, during which they soaked up washboard and ruts very well. About halfway through I followed my buddy, a MSF instructor, through the mountain twisties and was amazed at how much less travel I used under MAX (Oh $h!t) braking. Even got my chicken strips on my rear tire down to about 5mm in the process. |
