I have recently become the proud owner of a 1996 S2T. I am looking for a few parts to bring the already very wonnerful T'bolt closer to near perfection. I would like to have deep covers for my hard bags . . .the narrows are fine, but I would like both. If any of my fellow BWBers have a set of deeps sitting around (any condition) or know of any that are available I would appreciate a heads up. Thanks, Don Casto Boulder, Colorado |

Not to hijack, but I'm in the same (but opposite) situation. I have the deeps on my 95, would like to have the narrows as well Anybody know if the S3 outers fit up to the S2 bags? I've seen a bunch of wide S3 outer bags on ebay lately....might help out Don a bit if they fit. The latching mechanisms on the outers look to be about the same... |

Todd . . . Thanks for the heads up on the eBay covers. I emailed the guy and he has no idea what they are . . .too much of a gamble they will be wrong (S3) for that kind of coin. Joe . . . I seem to recall that conventional wisdom has it that the bags are different enough that they parts are not interchangeable. There is a conversion kit from Buell that allows S3 bags to be mounted to S2 frames . . .but it has always been way too expensive for most. |

I may be wrong, but the position of the latches might be a give away. The second latch on each bag seems to be far down the "slope" of the cover. On my S3T, It seems to me the latches are closer together and level with respect to each other. I'd guess these are S2 bag covers, but if you could find a similar picture of s3 covers, you might be able to tell for sure that they are different. Nick |

No, maybe they are S3 Bags.... The latch position looks pretty similar... |

Most S3 lids have the pocket on the inside of the lid and use the flat metal triangle catches on the latches.. The S2 has no pocket and uses c shaped rod stock catches.... |

Don- I think it's cool that you got yerself an S2. I'd recently been re-perusing your Buell info pages and was kinda bummed that you'd gotten away from the Buell thing. Nice to see that you found the fire again. -Saro |

Thanks, Saro. I am glad to hear someone actually still reads the stuff I put together a few years back. I had to review it myself just after I bought the T'Bolt . . .had forgotten which of the upgrades I needed to begin applying. I am hoping to find time one of these days to edit and update the "Conventional Wisdom" stuff, at least to make sure all the links are working. . . .been toying with the idea of starting a new "Conventional Wisdom" collection for the Uly, a good winter project perhaps?
