My 04 XB12S is taking 4-7 seconds to coast back down to idle after I pull in the clutch at speed. It isn't causing any real performance problems that I can feel or hear except for the occasional stall from start when I don't feather the throttle. I had some work done to it at Appleton's Harley in Tn and the tech said he "adjusted the TSP richer to account for a K&N filter, KD Fab econo pipe and cut airbox". It's really weird as I look down and my baby is running 3000rpm and the clutch is pulled in and slowly goes back to 1100. I have a stock ECM so I think the tech screwed up something. I believe this is a liveable condition but I thought I would reach out to make sure. Thanks in advance for any insight.

I have no idea what "adjusted the TSP richer to account for a K&N filter, KD Fab econo pipe and cut airbox" even means. I'm assuming TSP is TPS, but you don't adjust that richer or leaner, you just zero it. If it wasn't properly zeroed, the bike may run funny, and idle is the most affected.

It is far from uncommon for XB12s to have "hanging idle" issues, especially those with freer breathing intake and exhausts, and especially when the engine is hot. They all do it to some extent, and I've not been able to tune it out with mapping in the fuel tables.

It's a quirk I've learned to live with, I don't pull in the clutch when coming to a stop until the driveline has dragged the engine RPMs to below 1700 RPM or so. Once below that, it tends to drop rapidly to th 1050 idle speed.

...yeah the tech said since I had a stock ECM it was running lean because I did the mods "more air in and more air out means you need more fuel". I wanted to trust him but dangit he was wrong and to add insult to injury the idiot replaced my pro plugs with OEMs. WTF...any way, thanks Al, I appreciate it bro. I'll have the TPS reset here in Va and go from there.

I would say that you likely don't need a TPS reset, just adjust the idle back where it's supposed to be and that should make it all better(except for the lean running part because of the mods).

Let me guess...
You took it to HRHD. Sounds like something they might come up with.

Anyway, if setting the idle properly doesn't work, drop me a p.m.. I have the VDSTS and can hook you up with a reset if needed.(don't have a laptop so you 'll have to bring the bike here)

Thanks Tank-

pm sent

I believe I need to zero my tps and adjust the idle(currently at 1100-1200) like you said.
