My first xb12r firebolt was bone stock, brand new, and it topped out at 150 mph! Well that one had all kinds of issues with the throttle position that harley couldnt fix properly so it blew up, and they gave me another xb12r 2005 with same mileage but has somekinda aftermarket pipes on it! Why does this new bike i have only get up to around 125 mph and it feels like im not going anywhere?? any thoughts?? i mean i dont need to go that fast, im just really cautious about the reliablity of this bike! Why would my first stock one hit a higher topspeed than this one??

The rev limit on a stock XB12R limits top speed to around 135 mph. If you had one that went 150 mph, it wasn't stock.

As to your current XB12R, it sounds like maybe the aftermarket exhaust is hurting the performance. This can be due to a poor aftermarket muffler, or a lack of tuning to compliment the aftermarket muffler. Tuning of EFI system to match muffler characteristics is important.

Various alternatives. You can talk to Al at American Sport Bike about the Direct Link ECM remapping tool or check out other lesser EFI augmentation options. First think is to determine what muffler you have.

Take a photo and post it. Sounds like it may be a D&D. Check the American Sport Bike exhaust shootout; it has photos of all the various mufflers, among them a D&D.

The D&D is tuned for mid-range, which may explain why the top end is suffering.
