Just got it finished. I have to do some tweaking to the dimensions to center the guard in the lower set better. I am considering producing some of these if enough people are interested. Let me know what you think.

Woody1911a1 they perfectly legal I didn't infringe any copyright or trademark policies. As to the price they are probably gonna be about $100 to $150 per set. There is a lot machining that is involved in the process. I would consider making passenger heel guards too if someone is interested. Indy_bueller I am gonna try to powder coat the lower surface the color of my frame (which is the dark grey the pics are on my friends bike) and then try to make the pegasus gold to match my rims. I have been talking to a powder coating guy and I think that I have a process that will work. |

I am not of fan of really flashing chrome or polished aluminum. But if thats what someone wants that could be easily done. |

Pender they are cool but the logo is a trademark and yes HD will pop you hard for using it in any way. Also to get interest on the Badweb there isn't anything wrong with it but if you promote or take orders on them on the Badweb Blake will probably pop ya for it. But like I said they look nice but watch yourself. |

The raised part would be the wear area. A colored(black) background would be the only way to go. I'll take a set! |

It is quite a bit different than buells pegasus. I am gonna look deeper into the trademark infringement laws. If it does indeed infringe on buells logo then I will not do that. |

I was was informed that a 15% difference from the trademarked logo would be legal, but that information was not verified. Either way it would be good information to know for custom parts. |

I would think that a mostly similar logo used in conjunction with the same product as is the "real" logo would not qualify. Who is the Buell Licensing contact? If you plan to make a Buell logoed product, see if you can get a licensing agreement. If not, I think you're out of luck. I do like the look though. |

I did some research on trademark infringement laws and I am not going to be able to sell these heel guards unless Harley Davidson decides to buy them. Sorry I thought it would be a great looking heel guard so I decided to make them and thought others would appreciate them and might possible want some. It looks like that is not gonna happen unless Harley would give me the go ahead. |

Of course its trademarked. Why wouldn't it be. I think a better idea would be to make if of just a wing. Forget the horse head. |

Pender: I may be better qualified to answer your questions in about 18 months . . .
quote:Columbia Law School has hired three new professors of intellectual property law in the past two years, a clear signal that the School will play a significant role in the theory and development of laws and regulations that govern the world's marketplace of creativity. While Columbia's IP faculty would be considered first rate at any school in the nation, their teaching and scholarship is greatly enhanced by the school's location in New York.

I am probably just gonna make some for myself and my friend who helped with the design too. But as for production it's probably not gonna happen unless Buell or Harley like the design. Sorry |

Brian's right. I asked Erik himself about this a few years ago and he told me that as long as you're not selling them for a profit, you can use the logo (yourself and maybe a few friends). Starting a production run to sell would probably cross into the gray area, even if you only covered your costs. |

Just make them, step on them a few times , then sell them as "Used custom heelguards for buell" to us or on Ebay.

Just curious but can you make them so the logo is cut out rather than raised? It would make them lighter too no? |

Yeah the logo could be cut out rather than raised, and it would make it lighter. I wanted to make the logo really pop out and grab attention so i raised it out and am gonna powder coat it to match my amber rims. Greenlantern I am pretty sure that would still violate a trademark law. |

Its not the same. I really dont want just wings that defeats the whole purpose of it. I wanted the pegasus logo. Its not a bid deal cause I can legally make a set for myself, so thats all I really care about. I was thinking well I put the design work in already so why not make a few bucks off of it. But i am not gonna get into trouble over it so it looks like they are one offs. |

Penders, Marketing, advertising, or researching interest in potential products are all privileges reserved strictly for BadWeB sponsors. The policy is outlined in the terms of use statement to which you agreed in order to gain posting privileges here on BadWeB. You may have missed it, so I've taken the opportunity to explain it here too. We'd be grateful if you could please honor that agreement. If you'd like to consider sponsorship; it's dirt cheap, only $58/mo in consideration of a year's commitment, less than what a three line classified ad runs in the local paper. We keep the rate so inexpensive because we want to help enable the small shops and individual entrepreneurs who cannot not afford a large marketing budget. More innovative stuff for Buellers is only a good thing! Thanks, Blake |

I think those are awesome. I don't think there is enough stuff with the pegasus on it. Just my humble opinion. |
