I recently bought a 01x1 It is pretty much stock. I want to cut the rear fender and wrap the exhaust. Anyone have any tips to help me out??

Congrats on the purchase! I'm with you on the tail section, that's the first thing that went on mine. I have seen people just cut them off but it doesn't look near as good as if you buy something specifically to replace it. Check out my profile and you'll see what I'm talking about. Like others have said on here before, check out American Sport Bike, tons of Buell stuff. I replaced mine with a carbon fiber piece just because the bike was carbon with a ss license plate relocator. I just did away with the inner fender. My pipes are jet hot coated but the wrap will keep more heat off the legs. Performance wise you will eventually want the race ecm and new exhaust, the original exhaust weighs a ton. After that it's just little personal things like pivot bolt covers and axle bolt covers. Again congratulations and hope you enjoy it as much as I have mine. |

Also quick question do you have alot of rocker noise in your motor something that sounds like a marble is loose? I have 2989 miles on my 2001. |

I have been accused of having loose marbles but never in the rocker boxes. I have never heard anything like that in the motor and it has just over 21k on the stock powerplant. I would have it checked out if I were you. |

Jaded, There is alot of information here: http://www.saintjohn.nbcc.nb.ca/marriott/x1/ I followed this guy's suggestion for the fender chop: http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Track/6161/x1fe nder.html But- If I had an extra $185 I'd get this: http://www.bankeperformance.com/buell/tailpiece.ht ml Congrats on your new ride- Cbrxxblackbird- you might find it quiets down once you switch to synthetic oil. DO NOT OVERFILL YOUR TANK- |

Congrats on the new ride! I took a different approach with mine. Added the factory cooling fan, a Jagg oil cooler, and the XB rocker covers. Trojan Horse (a board sponsor here, located in England) has a really nice fender eliminator, but it is pricey. May yet wrap my exhaust pipes. Do a search on the site; lots of header wrap info/threads lately. Enjoy the bike!! Dave |

Hey! Thanks for all the help!!! I don't have any marble noises that I can hear? I have been looking at the banke fender eliminator it costs but I guess everything does...:~) I do have the power commander and o2 sensor on it. I think I'll get to know it better before I do too many performance mods... Thanks again Oh yeah any body know someone with a buell in Oregon?? Salem area |

have a seasoned tech listen to the top end noise hot. I had to replace my rocker cover gaskets and i swear they were quieter after that. They dont make noise cold but hot some noise is normal. |
