Thanks to DaveS for sharing the following: Posted on Monday, January 29, 2007 - 11:57 pm: -------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Tonight it was announced that in the next 2 years, Buell is going to enter the dirt bike market! This is not a secret and i am not a blabbermouth. Very cool and upbeat Buell meeting tonight. Packed room. I have NEVER seen that many people at Buell meeting during a dealer meeting. Standing room only! I really think that many dealers, now realizing that the waiting list days for HD are over and looking to Buell to add business, profit and new customers to their dealerships. This is all good for the Buell riders and Buell company. Congrats to Erik and his team! Thanks Dave! And I concur! |

The evening Buell advisory meeting for dealer principals was a brief general session where it was announced that they are "in development" of a "complete line of competition off road motorcycles" with an overview video playing of Motocross, enduro, and supermoto. |

More from Josh at Cycle-Connection:
They said they will have a full range of dirt motorcylces in within two years. They also are entering dirt track racing. At the same meeting, they mentioned that they will be making hypersports. Normally a hypersport bike is referred to as the 200+ mph capable bikes like the Busa and ZX14. Whoa. Hypersport motorcycles too? |

"Whoa. Hypersport motorcycles too?" Hypersports are cool. Hell I'd even settle for a nice SuperSport. |

One could only hope. However my yearly Buell predictions have always been way off. I though for sure they'd be in the SuperBike arena by now. I wish them well in this venture, but hopefully they will not forget about the sportbike guys in the process. We'll see. |

No, Bomber, you are not the onliest one to ponder that thought. Last night I was working on my Yamaha Street Tracker project, and, yeah, an XB, or big bore Blast powered Street Tracker would kick this thing's butt. I saw this XB engine in a Champion XR750 frame for sale on a flat track website and it was skinny and gorgeous. A street version.......yeah! |

....and of course, we can expect the same level of support from our local Harley-Buell dealership......and yes, I know there are exceptions (Appleton, etc). |
