Ok walked by the bike today and noticed oil on the floor. I think i know where its coming from just not sure what its called. Kinda under the oil filter there is like a plug of some kind it looks like the wire is streched tight the rubber boot is falling off and its covered in oil. What is it how much does it cost and why would it be going bad. |

Rummy, does it look like #10 in this picture? That's the oil pressure sender.
It may just need a little teflon tape on the threads, give it a blast of Simple Green or carb cleaner and look close. I don't know what they cost, but they can't be expensive. Maybe a standard AutoZone kinda deal. rt |

Here's a photo from the service manual. Might be easier to see.
Turns out the proper name for the part I'm thinking of is "Oil pressure switch" not "sender. My bad. Same advice applies. Clean it off, make sure the threads are sealed. I'm sure I'm unique in this regard, but I've never seen one fail in service (unless it was hit with a hammer or damaged in a crash or something.) rt |

Seen em leak lotsa times, start dripping from the body. It's just an oil sender---that is also proper terminology-- from automotive application. |
