Did your axle video go away? Youtube says it doesn't exist. |

Thanks! It did the same thing with the night video as well... but then it came back up Its just a matter of time, I hope Sounds improvements The first one entailed putting a little piece of tape over the mic holes, and it worked rather well. This was used yesterday. Today I decided to try something different... I discovered that the cable leading from the camera was pinched and was starting to shred a little I figured, warranty is gone... Now the real fun can begin! So I proceeded to open the camera:
The microphone is just sitting inside the cylinder, not much protection from wind
The two microphone holes
I decided to try using some foam, so little foam packman was born
Little foam packman in its new home...
We shall see how it goes. Also I forgot to mention this earlier, the CCD version of this camera did not turn out to be all that great, it burned out after about 3 minutes and this was unprovoked... So unless it was just a bad one, they are MUCH more delicate... (Message edited by interex2050 on April 14, 2007) |

Pete, question what happens if you do not plug in the mic from the camera? Does the camera revert back to the built in mic? I don't have my handy at the moment to test it. I was just thinking if you have the camera in a backpack. the camera would be protected from the wind yet, be able to pick up that glorious pipe sound. For those of you who haven't seen this video from the UK check it out. It has one of the best audio recordings I have seen on a bike video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nvGnleWfPo I can't embed it. Blake, when do we get some HTML support??? If you could capture something like this with your fork mounted camera, I think you might be on to something. |

It has one of the best audio recordings I have seen on a bike video The camera a friend of mine uses has the mic on a separate wire, not built into the camera. That way you can put the mic in the bag with your camcorder protected from the wind. |

Corporatemonkey, Sadly since the camcorder is in VCR mode it does not go back to the internal mic. The audio on that video is quite impressive... Glitch and Buellxb, What are some other forums that I should post this stuff on... Yesterdays testing proved to be interesting... The little piece of foam did eliminate the wind noise at speeds below 30 mph, but the noise promptly returned thereafter. The after that I put a piece of tape over the holes, this removed all external noise and engine sound with it. What was interesting though is that you could hear the brake very well... After digging around through my stockpiles of misc stuff, I found a little sony mic with a built in battery. This will work with the audio in on the RCA... So my next step is going to be to go buy some adapters to change the microphone plug to an RCA and plug it into the sound in. Then pop that sucker into the backpack or anywhere else for that matter... Almost forgot, here is the failed video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJ8P-rwOaIA The sound on that video is a little better, you can actually hear the bike better (at certain points). |

What other forum is there? BuellXB wants you to post all this on his Buell forum, I was just telling him to post a link on his to here is all. The "failed" video is pretty good. Just think, as all things go, to more you do it the better you get at it. Looks like by mid-summer you'll have this stuff down pat and be a YouTube star! |

I've been following this link, and its pretty good setup. I'm thinking of buying the camera also. At the moment I have a digital video camera (cheap) that I use for little videos. Here's a link to one I made last month. Scroll down, its the fourth. http://home.comcast.net/~prferr/Movies.htm Paul |

Paul, That's a sweet exhaust tone in your video. What kind of exhaust are you wearing? Looks like a Drummer. |

Bueaddicted, The quality of the video is really good! What camera did you use? And how did you shield the mic? |

Here's a quick video I shot with a sony cybershot. For a dinky camera I was impressed with the sound quality. I didn't think the camera would pick up the exhaust note so well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nyZ36u0OOI |
