Did anybody get the full scoop on why Rocket H-D fired Cody? I am concerned for him, of course, but I am also concerned about whether this action might have anything to do with the dealership's support of Buells. Russ |

"...have anything to do with the dealership's support of Buells." ?? What support? If they stocked one Buell T-shirt in various sizes it'd improve their involvement with the Buell line by 100%. They can do nothing but improve. DAve |

RA, My dad and I are looking at going to MBIV this year. I've convinced him to ride up Friday morning and we'll head towards Suches later in the afternoon. Should be a good time. Do you know what the housing availability is at TWO? I heard there were cabins but not many. Not sure if my dad can handle a tent for two nights. Any info you have is appreciated. Scott |

Flyor, The rooms at TWO are all reserved for the SMHD/Buell crew. There are some cabins nearby, check the thread in the quickboard forum (March Badness IV), some folks put up some links to local hotels and cabins. There will probably be rooms available in Dahlonega, which is only about a 15mile ride to TWO. You may want to make a reservation asap, I think this is going to be a big meet this year. You can also check with others who already have cabins reserved too. Several of them will be willing to share couches/floor space to make the cost cheaper for all. I am considering heading over there on Thursday morning so I can make a trip up to the dragon on Friday. I am going to be camping for the duration. It is only $12/night to camp. I think my entire bill last year was about $100 for the camping and 3 meals a day. Looking forward to meeting/riding with you guys! |

I am heading up from Montgomery either Friday evening or first thing Saturday morning. It is all up to the work schedule if I am able to get off for Friday. Will be good to meet all of you up there |

My dad's riding up to huntsvegas Friday morning from Prattville (go Lions!) and we'll try to depart from huntsville around 1 or 2 in the afternoon. RA - thanks for the tips on places to stay. I'll definitely check the quick board. I think we might actually camp now, my dad says he's up for it as long as there's food and showers...I think you confirmed both. I wish we could work the dragon in as well but I won't be able to take all of friday off. We tried to hit it last year when we rode to Myrtle but a flat in Tennessee cancelled that out. Oh well, maybe later this year we can ride it...we're seriously considering riding to Laconia this June. My dad's from the northeast and I think the roads up Laconia would be awesome. |

Flyor, The shower facilities are very good. And the food is even better! I was pleasantly suprised by both. |

RA - that's good news. I'll pass it on to the pops and hopefully that will sway his decision! Couple of more questions - if camping by tent, do we need to reserve a sport or is drop it where you can? Also, I heard that Suches and TWO were located in a dry county. True? Is there an alternate plan in place if one would like to partake in a libation after long day of demoing? |

Camping is drop it where you can. And they have a pretty large area. They don't take reservations for camping. The food is excellent. But you do have to wait for it. They have a small staff there, and we completely overload them while we are there. I am not one to wait long for food, but I have no problem waiting there. Suches is dry, but that only means that you cannot buy akeehal there. You can bring your own and drink it. Since I drive my car over and tow the bike, I just fill up my cooler prior to launch. I don't recall how far the closest place is to buy beer/liquor, but I am sure one of the locals could tell you. (I USED to be local, but still couldn't tell you how far the closest available beer is). Dahlonega may be the closest, and I think that is about 15 miles down the road. Check in on the MBIV thread, I am sure Glitch or one of those folks know where to get drinks. |

excellent. thanks for the heads up. I've been to Dahlonega a few times and have had a beer at a restaurant so that may just have to be the ticket... |

In that lil town square area of Dahlonega there was an Italian restaurant that brewed their own (Belgium) beer. Gooooooooooood stuff. DAve |

I read on the quick board that there's going to be some "off roading" with the uly's this year at MBIV. I have yet to take mine on anything close to off road...barring a few gravel roads... Now, I'm wondering if I need to get that all street tire replaced that's on the back of mine. It's only about half worn (~2K miles), but I may just have to put a DS tire back on there for that! It's going to be a long 77 days... |

Any of you guys riding a light blue XB-s? I saw someone at the light from 72 going on to Hughes this morning on one. Don't know if it was a 9 or a 12. If so... who is you? |

Russ, Keep me posted on MBIV. I sure hope you can make it. It'd be a trip (and possibly a little ironic?) if we finally meet in Georgia. |

Russ, I can't ride this weekend, but maybe next weekend? If the weather holds (or gets a bit warmer even), it could be a pretty nice ride. Plus, I really should get some 'practice' in before the curves of Norht GA...I'm still relatively new to the curvier aspect of riding! |

Ok, so lets try for next saturday (weather depending) to get all of us local buellers out for a ride. Anyone else listining?? We can figure out a place to meet. I am in harvest, where is everyone else? We can pick a central point to everyone if need be. |

Madison for me. Just north of 72 off of Wal Triana. A central meet place anywhere in Huntsville/Madison works for me. If the weather gets better I should be able to make it. Today would've been nice 50 and sunny aint too bad at all... |

Well, it appears that the weather is not going to cooperate for us this weekend. So lets shoot for the following weekend for a buell ride. Anyone else out there besides me and Flyor interested??? I am thinking of a route for the ride: 72 out to hwy 65 through paint rock. Then up through skyline, then over to the fish hatchery, then on to Lynchburg for lunch. We can either retrace back, or just come back the easy way. (usually by that time, I'm ready for the easy way home... but since I have a new seat, I may be up for more). |

I'm not sure if I would make it out to Atlanta for a day trip. When is that? Next saturday? I know my wife has a doc appt. in Atlanta coming up. I'll have to check to see when that is. If it is the same weekend, I think I could do that. |

An update to my continuing saga of "Lack of Service" with the Service Dept of Rocket HD... I was in last week, as I had finally bit the bullet, and decided to check about getting my 5K service on the uly along with the Recall of the sidestand. When speaking to the service department I asked a few questions based on my last experience during the 1K service...mainly the wait on parts. IF you recall, I left my bike there and then they inventoried and realized they needed parts so the bike sat there for the better part of 5 days. And a few other 'issues' that they did not address. I wrote a letter to the GM and Service Manager and never hear back. At that time I swore off Rocket...but then Chopper Alley closed so I thought oh well, I guess I'll go back. So back to present day...I asked if they had the parts in stock for the sidestand recall, and I got blank stares. Finally someone said no, and that they'd need to order the parts. I asked how long and was told one week. So I asked if they could order the parts in advance and contact me and I would bring the bike in for the 5K and the recall repair. One of the guys went to the back and asked a "supervisor" if they could do that. He came back a few minutes later and said no, I would have to bring the bike in and leave it there while they waited for the parts to come in. I asked why. The same guy, looking perturbed, yelled into the back "hey so and so (I think Chris was the name, not sure) this guy want's a "definition" as to why he has to leave his bike..." So this guy comes up front and says to me, and I loosely quote, "because we're tired of getting stuck with un-needed parts. No one wants stock parts and YOU GUYS always order this stuff and then never come back and we get stuck with unwanted parts...so we don't do that no more...it's a "law" around here..." So...I walked out. I didn't say a word, just walked out. Now to the good news portion of this story. I called up Bumpus HD and Buell in Murfreesboro (approx. 88 miles back roads from my house), and talked to Steve in the Service Dept there. I asked the same question...and he said "I'm staring at 3 complete sidestand repair sets right now...and if they get used up I'll gladly pre-order the parts for you." Furthermore, because of the distance he said they would service the bike, repair the sidestand, and check if I have to have the bank sensor indicator recall done while I wait. Didn't even need to schedule an appt since it's early in the season. I told him a portion of my sob story with Rocket and he laughed and told me I'd have to give him a dime, since everyone has to give him a dime when they tell a story about that place. I'm currently writing a letter to Buell Customer Service about all of this and will attach the original letter that was apparently never read by Rocket. I'm also going to commend Bumpus while I am at it. It is apparent to me now that Rocket HD is only interested in selling you a bike and nothing more. Their follow thru after the fact is downright pathetic...IMHO. Thanks for letting me vent... |

Dam.. that is ridiculous. I went over there last week to get an o-ring for my clutch cable. I didn't have any problems.. but then again, I didn't need to order anything. Maybe bumpus will be the place to go from now on. That kind of treatment is just plain rude. I have talked to the guy at bumpus through email in the past, and he has said that they will be glad to make up for the bad service that we are getting from Rocket. They sound like good guys over there. |
