I'm dropping the hammer on purchasing a new bike. I posted once here before regarding the models that I was considering and now the time has come to go get one. I'll be test riding a Monster 800 S2R and an XB9SX next week. (maybe still considering an SV650 but they are not available for demo rides) I'm very excited about getting a new bike, finances are in place, parking is reserved and I plan on bringing one home before the end of the month. I will be visiting Harley/Buell in Danbury, CT as I have visited them before and they have several Buells on the floor. I would appreciate any information on other dealers within the tri-state area as well as any tips to consider in this purchase. Much like any one else I have no problem traveling to a dealer far away if the savings are substantial. Danbury does have a few left over 06' models that they are quoting at $7,995. From what I have seen, there is no big difference between them and the 07'. am I missing anything? - thank you (Message edited by nickcaro on April 11, 2007) |

Liberty Harley in NJ is a great dealership, they really stand by buell, as well as sponsor/race. http://www.libertyharley.com/index.htm Also have rode with the guys at Edison Buell, a large buell dealership not too far from Liberty, so could kill two birds with one stone. They have good deals and are willing to work with you. Talk to Seth, I think he is in sales. http://www.harleyofedison.com/ |

I might suggest that you visit Liberty HD in Rahway , NJ. They are great Buell fans, sponsors of this site, and support a Buell racing effort as well. |

I LOVE the people at Danbury Buell. I wish ALL Harley dealerships were as pro-Buell as those guys. I'm very surprised they're not a sponsor here (I know some of their salespeople belong to BadWeb). That being said, the folks at New Roc Harley Buell in New Rochelle are also very "Buell Friendly." The owner (Jack) even rides a Firebolt. |

I know, i was actually scared when i saw how pro-Buell they were, after reading all the horror stories of crappy dealers, i thought i was just easy to please. Glad to hear im not the only one. |

You can't got wrong . . . Jeff in Danbury, Anthony at Liberty or Seth at Edison. All these guys "get it" and will go out of their way to make certain your experience starts and remains excellent. Welcome to the world of Buell. The Monster is ART . . the Buell is a MOTORCYCLE. Court |

The Monster is ART . . the Buell is a MOTORCYCLE. And the SV is a great project type bike, not in the same league as the other two mentioned. |

Hey Nick... you seem to be on the same track as me LOL... I'm right next to Danbury and I've been in HD of Danbury a few times. I am also looking hard at the Duc 695, the SV650, (I'm also looking at the Honda 599) and now the Buells. I'm going to try and test drive the Buells if possible. Later, J |

danbury buell is definitely a good dealer. they have more employees riding buells than harley's. i had an issue with my bike (caused by another dealer) and danbury went above and beyond to make sure i was taken care of. probably can't go wrong with any of these 3. |

With out a doubt, this board is very active and I have learned a ton from lurking around and seeing random posts. I want to thank you all for the responses so far. Knowing that there is such an active group of Buell owners will certainly have an effect. I'll be passing though NewRoc today on my way up to Cape Cod and will be making a quick stop to say hi. I'm in Brooklyn but Danbury is very close to my mothers home and I visit often, Johnny5; I was also looking at the Honda 599 & 919. I dropped them from the list cause I want the growl of a twin. I have also been showing pictures of the SV650, Monster and XB9SX to a group of hot women that I know. None of them like the Suzuki, at one point one of them stuck her tongue out and said "yuck" |

Nick: Smart move. If you need a Buell demo ride or any info . . . I'm right here in Manhattan. You riding the "5 Boro" this year? I'm signed up. . . think a Buell bicycle would attract attention?

My friend at work has an SV650S. I have ridden his and it is nice but I would never buy one. It is very smooth, quiet and does not have the grunt or character of my XB9SX. When we have both of them in the parking lot, I always get the questions and comments. I also agree with the other posts about Liberty. I purchased my bike from them and my brother in law purchased an '07 Softail from them. |

If you are gonna be in Jersey..... Bergen County HD/Buell in Rochelle Park is a great place. I don't know about the deals they have, but the people there are great. I always leave there happier than when I arrive. The people there are really friendly and they all seem to really like there jobs. They can't seem to help you enough. They do a lot rides with free breakfast before and then free bbq and live music after. Really worth stopping by. |

Hey I test rode the same bikes. Monster is a cool bike but the buell is tough. Just to give you an idea I picked up my 06 xb9sx (380miles) from Gails HD(kansas) a month ago for 6600(including doc fee) and the orig wanted 8300 w/ doc fee. It took me almost a month of haggling but it paid off. Dont forget about that 300 dollar doc fee when your haggling. I would also suggest buying your gear first if you dont already have it. Its more expensive then most think. There is also sales tax as well... If you are somewhat new to riding you might also want to get frame sliders ASAP(make sure the bike has frame pucks). Man buying a bike is expensive. |
