WOW! I go to work and you guys go nuts on here. Thanks for all of the compliments. I am glad I finally did something original instead of copying off everyone here: )

What did you use to make the cut and keep it straight? Did you do it on the bike or did you have to remove the tail section to make the cut?
Line made by crayon and straight edge. Taped above the line, what I was keeping, to keep from chipping paint. Cut most of it on the bike w/hacksaw, 32T (fine) blade. Finished the rest with it off the bike w/hacksaw and dremel.

What do you plan to do w/ the electrical box on the right side of the bike?
Nothing so far. Haven't gotten that far. I am open to suggestions. There doesn't seem to be any extra length in the harness, so I will probably have to splice in extra length to move it.

Have you had any issues since removing the cover over the primary pulley? Was thinking about removing mine, but am concerned about pant legs etc. getting caught up in the pulley.
No, but those big teeth looked hungry, so I put it back on, chopped down of course.

If you wouldn't mind, would you post a pic (on Picassa - none of your images are showing up on BadWeb) shot straight on from the rear. Anybody know why they aren't showing up?
I'll try to take some more pics tonight. I am also going to try to cut down the fork tabs and paint them tonight, but that might be a little ambitious for one evening.

Thanks again for the compliments! Even my wife likes it. I am very, VERY pleased. I always loved the look of the S1, with the short tail, but liked the practicality of the M2. Now, I have both!

Damn, Tyler - that looks nice. I've been wanting to strip down some of my plastics, trying to decide how far to go. You guys keep making my decisions more and more difficult.

Are you running the bike w/out turn signals, or are they so low profile that I can't make 'em out?

What about the oil blow-by drip line - where did you route it to? I don't see a catch can either.

Holy crap Eengler2! That looks great. It kinda has a flat tracker look. And FWIW, I like the relay box where it is. Looks tough as hell. I hate to cut anything on mine; there's not a scratch on it, but that is hard to resist.

No signals...they're gross not necessary and people see my arm signals better anyhow. I stripped pretty much everything off that I could and blacked out a bunch of the rest. Thinking about getting the front fender Line-X'd and putting it back on though. (Note dirt all over front head and exhaust due to riding in rain)

It has the XB rocker box covers, so the line runs from them along the left side of the oil tank and back under the tail where I zip-tied the line to the back of the frame with a K&N breather filter on the end.

Eric, how's the progress on the fork lowers? I sawzalled my left mounts off and cleaned it up with a medium-grit fiber disc on the angle grinder. Was considering blacking mine out but I don't want to go overboard and I can't really visualize it yet.

Brentmiller: Thanks for the positive comments. I was scared to do it because the bike is in such good shape, but it looks even better in person. I can't stop looking at it. I don't have a garage, just a carport, so I can steal looks at it from the kitchen window as I pass-by: )

Big_Koch: No progress on the forks yet. My wife and kids are leaving for Florida tonight and I had to tie up lose ends at work. I am debating on whether to use just regular gloss black paint or to use brake caliper paint.

No problem! Thanks for the compliments. It really looks awesome in person. IMO the way it should look. I need to check the classifieds for those rearsets, those look to be about the perfect placement for what I want.

If you find some banke rearsets on ebay, make sure they are the real rearsets like these, they also made some half rearsets, I don't know what else to call them, they just lifted them an inch or so, not the full 3 or 4 inches up and back you get with these.
However, those are easy to tell apart visually from the ones I have, so if you can see a pic before you buy, it should be no prob...

Banke rearsets are still being made.
Available from American Sport Bike, or Banke directly.

Actually I have most of the rear-set shifter kit available as a 'spare' if anybody is interested. I removed the complete rearsets off my bike, and foolishly sold the sideplates alone (the parts pictured above) leaving me with the rearset shifter mount only, if anybody is interested send me a PM. The whole setup was just too far back and high up for how I like to ride.

After this weekend (at MB4), I decided to go for the naked tail, myself. The peg risers I got just aren't high and back enough for really agressive riding and the bodywork just gets in the way with proper rearsets, but the most compelling reason is seeing someone else ride my bike. M2's just look too porcine from the rear with the wide tail. I was disapointed with how pedestrian the M2 looks (from the rear) compared to the S1 or even the 1st gen Cyclone. Buells are so rare around here, I never saw an M2 from the rear until I saw my own from Smokes S1 when we traded bikes for awhile at MB4.

I didn't realize Banke was still making reasets for the M2, I was told they discontinued the model that I have. I must say, however, the rear brake mount was a bit wobbly, and I had to fab a brace to fix this problem. Perhaps they discontued this model for a while to address this problem?

Hey Bigblock,

The Banke's currently shown on the American Sport Bike website for M2's don't look anything like yours. Is that a specific model or did they redesign the whole thing? I like the rearsets you showed a pic of because they use the stock brack pedal and shift lever.

The bike looks great with the cut off rear panels. Im looking at super clean 02 Cyclone but Ive never liked that rear/side piece.

How about a set of the XB12 TT side number plates on a tube Buell? Somebody photoshop that for me.

??? why cut of the sides of the tail fairing, and then stick on number plates?

You can see that the at the front the old seat still shows. I also had to delete some of the back. This would definitely require sub-frame mods. I think the XR750 will be too narrow for the bike. It might work with the earlier narrow M2 tank. I will try to photoshop the XR750 later this weekend. I have to get back to the garage. Getting the M2 ready for a 35-40 degree Moonshine run tomorrow morning.
