Listers: I will be picking up a XB12X in Houston and riding it back Western New York before the end of the month. Is there a thread with a list of recommended tools to carry on a XB12X? Does anyone do and "long distance" work on a ULY? I would be looking for a listing similar to Ron Major's ST1100 Toolkit? Thank you in advance. |

Is there a thread with a list of recommended tools to carry on a XB12X? - What are you looking to fix? My only addition is a good T-handle T27. |

I carry the stock kit, a tire plug kit with a pump, some tie wraps, needlenose vise grips, a T27 long handle tool, and a multitool. It is minimalist but can tackle a lot of problems. Here is the link to the multitool: http://www.jpcycles.com/productdetail.aspx?PID=910 -050&cs=Harley&GID=EE106FCF-AEEC-457D-8F72-3046C1D 5D23B&store=&page=&search= If the linkey doesn't work (long one) the tool is the Outback'r Harley tool. |

I carry the Cruz HD multitool, additional allen wrenches, duct tape, zip ties, CO2 inflator, plug kit, magnesium fire starter, led flashlight, needlenose vice grips, Wiha T-27 torque wrench, Assorted SAE sockets, 1/4" ratchet, and the stock toolkit. Surprisingly all of that fits in the Buell Underseat bag. |

"Does anyone do and "long distance" work on a ULY?" Here's a ride report from a 7 day endurance event that I wrote last August. I'm in pics. 7-10. There are some other LD riders that visit this site also. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/220867.html#POST722590 If you have any questions, I'd be happy to help. Bob |

Be sure you have an allen wrench big enough to fit the rear axle pinch bolt and take tools to change a set of spark plugs which is a wobble socket, long extension, and a piece of rubber tubing to screw the new plugs in. Extra belt. Lotsa $$$ |

OK.Let's get the jokes outta the way Cell Phone & Credit Card if I am on BMW (TKS Hootis) Built in GPS with autorouting through DQ waypoints if I am on a Gold Wing with a snazzy white Jacket) I am coming from a ..........'89 Honda PC800. You can stop laughing now. Here is my present kit. http:http://augiedogie.smugmug.com/photos/141443256-L.jpg Stevenknapp: I like the Cruztool multi-tool but I have all the components I need to match it's function. Paochow Please explain "Wiha T-27 torque wrench" I believe that I will need a Torx T-27 Socket and a set of SAE unbrako or craftsmen hex keys but what sizes do I need. I a also trying to get it down to where I can put all the kit in an underseat bag (and I have a LOOOONG way to go) Bob: I have seen your reports here and I am on the LDR mail list. Good Stuff. I'm kinda waiting to see if Bison will post what he uses. http://www.wihatools.com/364soft.htm In T27. I find the Wiha Torx stuff to be nicer than the Craftsman. A set of SAE hex keys wouldn't be bad, but I think most of that is in the toolkit already. There is a T27 L-key in there, but so much is installed/removed with the T27 I'd go insane using the L-key long before I fixed anything... BTW, I've never seen the Cruztool multi-tool. |

What he said. I got that Wiha T-handle after I got caught out after dark and needed to raise my headlights. Pretty much impossible with the stock T-27 or the Cruz tool, unless you remove the flyscreen. I also bought the Wiha T-27 sockets in 1/4 and 3/8" and they also work great. Just don't buy the torx pro sockets as they don't work with our fasteners. |

Print out the RAN here on BadWeb and carry it with you. There are quite a few folks willing to help you out if you have trouble on the road. |
