Greetings, I took a test ride on these 2 bikes a few weeks ago and was thoroughly impressed. I preferred the Firebolt but was wondering how "modular" these bikes are. Is it possible to get the larger tank frame from the Lightening Long and build a Firebolt ( I want the fairing and clip on style handlebar) on it? How much does this come to? Is it worth it? Somewhere between the Firebolt, Lightening Long and Ulysses is the bike for me!!!! |

You can make a long Firebolt out of a Lightning Long, but it can become a little daunting as I understand it. Aside from changing the plastics and tail sections, you'd need to figure out the wiring. The lightning splits its electronics between the fly catcher and under the seat, whereas the Firebolt puts it all in the fairing. You may be able to find room in the R tail, but I'm not sure. |

It can be done. It ain't real easy because the frame on the long is wider than the Firebolt's. But as I said, it can be done... Here's SilverBullet's, it would be really easy to add the Firebolt faring and top triple.

The mounting tabs for the tail sections is different on the ULY, SS, and TT than the Firebolt and lightning. The firebolt rear on the SS is a workout in engineering for placement of the ECU and Fuse box but again it can be done. |
