Chadhargis, Celebrating the individuals uniqueness is just what the young lad in the race was doing. As far as your comment about laughing about ones' disability I think that is perfectly acceptable if the person with the disability is part of the festivities. Unfortunately the picture and caption were not celebrating the fellows uniqueness it was making fun at his expense. Since when has "political correctness" been required to treat another human being with respect. I just assumed it was common courtesy and compassion. As far as you eluding to Ft bstrd being no stranger to disability I can completely relate. I myself am disabled. I don't feel sorry for myself in the least but I have been the brunt of jokes. Let me tell ya' from experience, I smile but sometimes it hurts. At the end of the day the ones making the joke can walk away from it while we are stuck living it every day of our lives. Talk to me again when you have dealt with the realities of a disability for yourself, although I pray you never will. In any event FT bstrd and myself have been in touch with one another and all is fine. No hard feelings on either end. |

It's very hard to read a persons intent. I didn't want folks to get the wrong impression of Fatty. He's a good guy, and wouldn't knowingly offend anyone, nor would I. I'm not trying to fight FB's battles, he is perfectly capable of that. I just didn't want folks thinking he was callous. Life is good. Don't take it too seriously, no one is getting out alive. It's all good. I love humor. I love the idea that what I post makes people laugh. Because there is darkness in life, dark humor is sometimes my way of bringing levity to a situation. It allows an issue to be "outed" in an environment that is less threatening. In this case, I crossed the line. I took a cheap shot. There were those who were offended. I accepted that I had hurt the feelings of others and made every attempt to make restitution. I appreciate the candor of those here. They are willing to call you on your statements, positions, and actions. As long as the position is professionally argued, the debate remains professional. When it becomes personal, the community reacts to correct the discussion. It's what makes this community better than others, communal responsibility. I accept that, accept responsibility for my own actions, and, when I break the communal "covenant", attempt as best as is possible to restore order. I hope I have. If not, I will at least try to make you laugh.
Back to the longevity of Buells discussion! |

Just think, Elephantitis is caused by parasitic worms. Hard to believe a worm can do that to the human body. The good news is they have found Doxycycline to be a very effective treatment. The bad news is that fella' probably lives where medical care absolutely sucks. I have heard stories where the afflicted individual must use a cart to haul around his scrotum. I guess the stories were true ! |

I'm sure the Elves could retrofit a combination sack carrier/air box! Might even provide some intake noise sound deadening. The good news is that with the Buell torque, he would still be able to pull wheelies! |

It's amazing how much this thread degenerated from a discussion of Buell durability/longevity to giant scrotums in the Fiji Islands... |

Hi all, I've got 4000 mi. on my 07 XB12R since November 06. But I've got 60,000 on my 99XL12S, 30,000 of it with a liberty side car mounted. The Sporty is running just fine with no work (although it could use a new clutch soon), and I purchased the Buell partially because of the good life span of the XL engine. From what I've seen so far, The Buell should last just as well. Eric Ryan |
