Well, the plug did NOT hold. I suited up this AM for a ride and checked the tire; finding 20psi I saturated the area and noticed a slight bubbling in the lower edge. I took it over to my tire changer and he threw another type of plug in along with some glue. Gave it 40 psi and a 40 mile ride home on the BRP. I really don't like the high pressure but it had to be done. It seems to be holding well but tire shoppin I go. I just cannot have that floating around the back of my mind with riding season so close. NUTS |

well, the good news is we got you out of the woods and home. the bad news is, well, bad. i'm gonna hafta study the kit contents and procedure and see if i'm missing something, and decide whether to continue to use these plugs, or go back to the sticky/stringy ones. thanks for the heads up Jason, glad it at least got you safely home. Jerry, I am going to order the same kit you have because I like the mechanical way it inserts the plug. Takes the muscle/fatigue factor out of it allowing more thought when it is most needed: when you're up the trail with no one to get you down. I think the plug worked admirably; if it can get me a hundred miles I'm pleased. The real gist is not cheaping out for a set of spoons. Financially I can swing it, I was just hoping I could avert changing both tires. I'm sick of the 616's and was planning on going to something else anyway. My local dealer has two older models of applicable tire in stock for a good price, only problem being.... If the need for a single tire should again arise I'll be fishing for another whole set. So maybe I'll just bite the bullet and order up a set of the highly acclaimed "Syncs." Time'll tell; I've got 3 whole nights to think about it. NUTS Charlie, has our recent blur of activity scared you away? I hope to hear about this years racing effort and all the "dirty" tales. I rode by your old homestead today and thought about us carving up 43. NUTS |

Nuts, I've run a 616 on the front and a Sync on the back. It's fine. That being said, I did find that the front 616 would cup well before it was down to the wear bars. When I finally switched it out, it was like riding a new bike. |

Nuts, Im still around, been enjoying reading about your mis- adventures. At the end of the day your safe and still having fun( also sounds like you learned a few things along the way) always a plus. That riding on ice has a stiff leaning curve." That what doesn't kill you will make you stronger" never seemed more appropriate.LOL We are still trying to get this last bike up to speed( almost there). Won't be making the Daytona trip(tax refund hasn't arrived yet) bummer.Got more races coming at the end of march(local) Good tires are your best "insurance". If you have to choose, make sure your best(traction)tire is your front tire.Be Safe......Charlie |

Chauly, affirmative! (well, if you consider Fancy Gap your neck o' the woods). would love to get up there and pay you and the missus a visit. it'll be a while before we can "get out" in the manner to which we're accustomed, as we're working a ton of hours, and our new/old house needs a lot of attention to get it ready for next winter. however, we'll do the best we can, and if you ever find yourself at MP 203 on the Parkway, honk your horn and we'll wave you on in for a cuppa or a glassa. Chauly, I have been to "Frank's" and can promise a return trip. Closed on Sundays, right? Maybe Saturday. Charlie, I think the bike is a little heavy for woods duty and I'm certain it'd have my license in jeopardy. Once the wife makes up her mind, I'll have a host of options available. We've got the "Let NUTS roam around the country for six months" trip to confirm. That might just put a dirtbike on hold. Tank, thanks for the offer. When are you going to get a chance to get up to your Pops' cabin? The roads are almost ready to be ridden full-time. I can assure you Dragon-esque lean angles: all day! NUTS |

The cabin is an afterthought at this point. Looking forward to riding out to..... I have procured touring equipment, but I still have the issue of the hard-ass, 50mile seat. Still working the issue at this point. Recommendations welcome, but height is an issue. Tank p.s. I need a vacation pretty bad (Message edited by Tank_Bueller on March 02, 2007) |

Tank, The Corbin I had was hard, but it was a low and wide seat. Giving plenty of options for seating positions. I have heard good things about the select seat from Buell as well. NUTS |

New Avon Azaro's installed and scrubbed in. Sure is fun fighting a 40mph crosswind! Charlie, I see why you were always enamored with these tires. The seem very neutral when leaned over and stable all the time. NUTS |

Keep scrubbin' safely brother. For a hundred or two. That "juice" will keep "bleeding" out for a while unless you can "superheat" them on track. On another note... I have been sick as a dog, and I'm on antibiotics now. I literally have no conception of time and space compared to my normal self. Zombified! My sad realization is that most people take these meds and don't realize any difference from their normal state of awareness. In the past few days I have taken different "stuff", from Tylenol Sinus, to Robitussin syrup, and I have not felt less "self aware" than I do now, only on the antibiotics. Watch your ass, it's flu season! Tank |

Tank, add a tumbler of Starbucks Cream Liqueur (the only Starbucks I've found within 100 miles) and you have the makings of some very nice relaxation. Hey, heard of KT Tunstall? I had not until Ferris's son, Wade, presented her CD for me when he was visiting here a few weeks back - CD is Eye to the Telescope - much like Norah Jones if you like her style. |
