Well, it's almost here. I just trucked my bike to my new house. Started it up to load it and now I can't sleep....waiting to ride again. I just ordered the Conti Road Attacks for $212 shipped from ebay. I want to have the TPS reset and I'm debating whether to do this at the dealer, buy a diagnostic scanner from American Sportbike, or hope that there is someone around Bethlehem, PA that has one!!! Anyway, I'm planning on changing the fluids and replacing the spark plugs. Is there anything else that I should do? What about the timing? The bike has only about 3500 miles on it so I'm debating if it is worth doing? Any suggestions would be cool. | ||

Fenterline... You already answered most of your questions! after you finish changing the fluids and replacing the spark plugs. Have your TPS reset at the dealer. While you are there pick up a Service Manual for the remaining answers and much much more. Is there anything else that I should do? ride again. and again. and again. and again. | ||

Like you said, a change of fluids and tyres is never a bad idea but spark plugs at 3500 mi ? Nah, this is the 21st century they last ages. And as for the TPS, my Firebolt went 10k mi before a reset. It was only a little out and the difference afterwards was barely noticeable. The service manual tells you everything you need to know, there's no need to take it to bits to find out why it's running so well. Follow the maintenance schedule and just ride it. Have fun. | ||

a quick glance at the brakes maybe, but i have almost 17,000 on my original set and they still look like new. | ||

Winter here sucked! All two and a half weeks of it. I think I had my TPS reset at about 18k. My plugs got done at about 13k. My oil every 3-5k whether it needed it or not. Ride it. That makes the bike the happiest. | ||

winter is a good time to clean & polish the riding boots , clean the dried bugs off the jackets & sit in the garage and cast loving stares at her !(the buell) "what did you say girl" you wanna git ridden HARD!? sorry girl, it's too cold outside, how 'bout a nice WAX job ? | ||

Or you can brave the salt and sand and cold just to get your addiction to calm for another week or so. I went out last weekend here in NewEngland, it was 50 degrees out but it their was black ice out the night before so it was a very sandy salty mess. Looks like I got some more cleaning to do before the next tease of a day, which looks like sunday (mid 50s) Be safe the first time back out, roads a slick with debris and such |
