A properly ridden Buell is only on one wheel anyway so we just decided to ditch one. The really cool part is the customer has the option of which one they want.

Four valve heads suggest overhead cams too.

If this rumour turns to fruition, let's hope they don't put it in an XB platform.

That Looks like the "Ginger" thing on steriods! If Harley can build and sell trikes (which they announced they will do in two years) maybe the new Buell will be Unixycle. Was really hoping this thread had some lead photos of the dirty bikes coming.

Combat, Imonabuss,

When the XB9R was shown at the Int Bike Show at Birmingham's NEC, the minute I saw it I thought it was going in the wrong direction for my tastes, BUT, I couldn't help but wonder why Buell hadn't put Renthal style bars on it and a bikini style fairing, so I asked Scott Miller why not.

The reply was a little surprising when he told me Buell had tried exactly that but couldn't get the XB chassis to handle with sit-up and beg riding position.

A year or so later my foresight had turned to reality, and the 12S was born. A nice looking Streetfighter indeed, and I'd have one in a heartbeat if I were wealthy enough to own every bike I liked. But owning one of the best S1W's in the world doesn't make me want a 12S anywhere near as much as several other bikes first.

Now to answer your question Combat. For me the XB has been around long enough that whilst placing the motor I described above in an XB chassis might be a cool thing and work fantastic, be it a streetfighter or more race orientated style, but I would want a whole new bike built around a whole new engine. Now if the engine I described is placed in a Brutale, TNT, Morini style of streetfighter and the performance is way up there with these types of bikes, my ears are pricked up.

Might I just add, whilst I see the Blast as a very very ugly two wheeled commuter, I don't see Buell as having built an ugly motorcycle since the Blast, so I'm expecting any new Buell to attempt to break the mold. You know, like the S1's did. That is why I believe Buell are in need of a new platform if they are interested in holding onto their established streetfighter image but wish to move it forward to show the competition they are still very much in the game. This might well be more crucial if Buell are wishing to bring new customers to the marque who are streetfighter orientated if Buell concentrate more on heading down the mud plugging adventure riding type road. Never would a run new Buell streetfighters be more important if the above is true.

But hey, what do I know. The Yanks have f*cked Saab and the Russian's have f*cked TVR. Maybe the Korean's will f*ck Buell

To me it sounds more like you are giving yourself a reason to diss the bike in advance if for some reason it does appear. After all, in countless posts you have told us the engine is the problem. If they fix that, you have to have a prepared position that will allow you to remain the number one troll on this board.

And your psychotherapy makes you what? Goody two shoes?

Simple really. I want Buell to build the S1W replacement. Have done for years. That would be tube framed and a wild motor preferably. That has zero, zilch, nada, nowt, nuthin to do with trolling for numbers. And should I excuse myself for being a harsh critic at times of Buell when ultimately it's the buying public, which could include me, that will see the survival of the brand? I think not.

My comments, and similar from others I'm sure, are what will help forge Buells future roads if we are to believe the power of the Internet forums - and someone up there in the ivory tower is listening. So whatever you do, don't count me as a true blue Bueller just because they put out , well ok, ultimately cool motorcycles. My requirements demand a more unique, not so mainstream motorcycle, and one that does the biz. That would not for me be anything in a well established XB chassis.

In 1998 the S1W could be forgiven for its shortcomings by the likes of harsh critics such as me, but where at least I'm concerned, Buell to this day has not rewarded me for my forgiving, and in some lesser degree for remaining faithful to the brand. I want my reward now. I'm sick of waiting. So I really really hope that finally, after 7 or 8 years of waiting, Buell are going to put a cat amongst the pigeons. If anyone thinks that's trolling, well frankly, they need to get away from the puter and find something constructive to do. Apart from Internet psychotherapy that is.

You sure are caught up in the whole tube frame idea. Just an observation. What makes a tube frame so great?

Kinda like how black fishnets make a leg look even better. Some people think they do, some don't. (not asking to see Rocket in fishnets but...)

Tubers might be easier to work on... but then you MUST work on them more.

Nothing makes a tube frame great compared to an XB, especially if you are actually into riding. I've ridden both kinds and the difference is huge. And although I am now old and slow, I still know good handling. In the case of the XB, great handling.

Also, the XB is exquisite to me next to a tube framed bike. The tube frame bikes are all gawky and awkward with the fuel tank perched way up over the engine, and the air box sticking out the sides. The swingarm has a bad angle for handling, the shock absorber looks dumb underneath, yada, yad, yada. They look very garage made. As a guy who thinks TVR's are the cat's meow in sophistication, I can see how Rocket likes tubers. If you want a bike that showcases the H-D engine, buy a H-D, I say. I want to ride, not parade my chrome.

The XB's are so incredibly clean and finished in comparison. And there have been a lot more XB's sold compared to tube frame bikes. It would be a hige step backwards for Buell to revert to tube frame bikes, and I would not want one. Maybe if they built a small batch of nostalgia bikes that would be OK, but if they want to build bikes for the major market, they need to stay technologically more sophisticated, probably more so than the XB, not less.
