Avon 'cupped' the other way for me. - They get flat spots in the profile. The go 'off' with 20-30% tread life left. Love 'em when new - disliked them when getting on a bit. They make a point about 'entire life of the tyre' on the new Storms. |

xb12r 2004 maybe this will make you feel better. try chewing off a rear tire in 1800 miles and a front in 2100 miles that gets pricey fast |

I have a '06 Uly at 4,434mi and my cuping is a little different than the rest of yours my front is In almost new condition with no cuping at all. The rear is about to get replaced at my 5k service because the cupping is about 1/8" different in height, higher in the center and less on the edges... I think its just the nature of the D616's. I also check my air pres every time i ride and i run 38psi in the front and 40psi in the rear because on the heavier side, about 275lbs all geared up... About the swimming issue in the front when do you guys notice it? I usually only see it above 70mph or on a really rough road ... |

40mph upwards and only on the freeway or good surfaces. Not evident at all on rougher roads. went away with the front 616 was replaced. |

Yeah, I only noticed it at interstate speeds. The problem was the split center tread block. You wouldn't notice it while leaned over. You wouldn't notice it while on rough roads. You would only notice it higher speeds while riding straight up. That's where it would "squirm". |

Birdman, I had a chance to check my settings against yours today and here is what I had. Front 5 lines 1.125 comp 1.625 rebound both Rear 12 clicks 2 comp 1.25 rebound A bit different. Just for grins I matched yours to see if it makes a handling difference for me. I know I have tried 1 compression on the front before, but I think it didn't fix the front end dive just made it rough over my dirt road. I've never been that far out on the rebound before so we'll see what happens. Checked tire pressures and found I was down 2 on the rear today to 36 from 38 at the beginning of the week. Filled it back up. Hopefully I didn't pick up a nail or something. I don't see anything in the tire, but that doesn't mean the damage isn't done. I'm still perplexed with my lack of clicks on the rear preload. I really wonder if I have a shock issue in the rear end. As far as the front end 616 squirm, I've noticed it from day one but only above 40mph. They recently took the top off a road I ride to work and made those fun grooves in it. The front end is all over the place on that stuff. The 616 really follows that stuff more than any other tires I've notice. (Message edited by jmhinkle on March 01, 2007) |

i got about 5k out of mine, no real cupping... Hadn't even hit the marker yet... but we have a lot of turns here. As far as the front, it only swims a little on old country roads that have marked divots from years and years of farm trucks driving on them. For the most part, I never noticed the swimming that a lot of folks have noticed except on these old roads. More so than the xpb9s I had before, but I noticed it on that too. I'm about 205, and run the suspension a little on the soft side from the manual. I'm still amazed at fat's pic collection. (Message edited by ihavemanyfleas on March 01, 2007) |
