I can just send somebody my recall notices and get the parts to fix these items myself.

Why on earth would you want to do that to a bike that's under warranty? Sorry to hear about your troubles, but Buell - or any other manufacturer of a motor vehicle for that matter - isn't going to send you free parts under warranty for you to fix. If you're having troubles with your local dealer, why not try another? In my experience, most HD/Buell dealers are good. This is in stark contrast to some brands - BMW for example - when most of the dealers suck. If you want to hear a tail of woe, wander over to their forums for tales of $20k touring bikes grenading $4k transmissions at an alarming rate. |

I have been buying service parts for mine. I even have a spare fan in the saddle bag for when I leave my zip code. There are only two guys in the World that wrench on my bikes and they don't work for Buell. This whole dealer dependent philosophy will work for Volvo but not for a "steetfighter". Buell needs to rethink if they want my business in the future. (Message edited by davo on February 10, 2007) |

8r, Whenever a recall is issued the manufacturer is required by law to install the recall at no charge. This is not a Buell thing, just part of doing a recall. It is the same with Ford, Chevy, Toyota or Honda. I have an early 06 Uly and still love it. So what if there have been 3 recalls? They are all pretty minor issues and I think that Buell has responded quickly to all of these issues with good solutions. I have not experienced a failure of any kind on the bike yet and I ride it down some pretty rough roads. There is risk in buying an early model anything. Machines are always refined and improved with time and I think that you can expect when you buy a first year model of any machine that the next year model will be improved and bugs will be worked out of the machine. If you really don't want the dealer to install the recalls then you can probably find a part number and order the parts but you will have to pony up and buy them. I also prefer to do my own wrenching but let my dealer deal with recalls for me. The rumor is that Buell is working on improving their dealer network but I am not sure how that is progressing or what is planned. Bottom line: Blake and Court can help. If you don't bother to simply PM Blake with the requested info then you will probably not get much help. Complaining on BadWeb will probably only land us all with more images from Fat B's extensive image library. Happy Trails. |

You're in a realm of your own, Ft_b... And welcome back, Ntmmd8r. Of course the price is having to view Ft_b's library on occasion... |
