And who was saying the dealers do such a lousy job? Pacific Grove, California – Harley-Davidson dealerships ranked highest in the newly released 2007 Pied Piper Prospect Satisfaction Index SM Motorcycle Industry Study, which measured how shoppers are treated at retail locations. The study is the first of its kind to provide actionable insights on the hot buttons that turn shoppers into buyers. Harley-Davidson dealerships were consistently near the top of the rankings for multiple aspects of the study. Harley-Davidson salespeople were more likely to ask for a shopper’s name, to determine a shopper’s price range, to determine if anything was preventing a purchase, to try to forward the sale, and to ask for a shopper’s contact information. Buell, Big Dog, Victory, Ducati, Suzuki and BMW follow Harley-Davidson in the rankings; all ranked above the industry average. |

Xlcr, Didn't you go to your new bike buyers party? They tell you all about the dealership, you know, service, motor clothes, parts, up coming rides, HOG and don't forget to fill out your survey. "The better score you give us, the more bikes we can get. Now don't give us a score we didn't earn, but all tens help us to help you." |

No, I don't remember any new bike parties happening when I bought mine new in 1977. Anyway, that would probably have been an internal HD survey, this in one from an outside source. |

"more likely to ask for a shopper’s name, to determine a shopper’s price range, to determine if anything was preventing a purchase, to try to forward the sale, and to ask for a shopper’s contact information." That's sales, not service. I paid my first visit to the local dealer on Saturday, and while they couldn't tell me anything about the TT, or even the new Nightster, they did pull out a credit app and accessories catalog faster than you could say "just looking". |
