Court, as i recall, the last time you "gave me a lesson", you ended up adding some extra ventilation to your Aerostich??? Mike, it was "severe clear" in Stockton, CA yesterday, sunny, warm and bikes EVERYWHERE. BattleTrax was held in a shopping mall parking lot, right on a main drag, in conjunction with a giant bike show and dyno-shootout (thank you Modesto Buell/Ducati and Stockton Motorcycle Club ) the BX course was the slipperiest i've ever competed on, due to a recent layer of seal-coat. we were skating and dancing all over the place, trying to ride that fine line between upright and downwrong. i went horizontal early on -- my race take-off 207 GP's were of no help whatsoever -- and it took a bit to shake it from my system, but the Thong (my new-to-me White Lightning) fared pretty well, and i was back out about 30 minutes later. Bob Gussenhoven and Mike Wood, both Triumph Speed Triple-mounted, put on a great show, and Debbie Gussenhoven, also on a Speed Triple, showed her stuff all day long. dammit, when the Super-Moturds started showing up in force, we "streeters" knew it was all over as far as overall Top Time honors (i half expected Canet and Cernicky from Cycle World to come sliding up any minute...), but still, we left everything we had out there on the track. great, tremendous, rollicking fun, and thanks to Reg Kittrelle and his crew for all their hard work. ok, out to the garage for me -- i've got some repairs to do... I thought those were NW names, they must have wanted a b-trax bad to head 900 miles south to the event. |

the very first time i met Bob 'n Deb, they had just ridden about two-hours thru TORRENTIAL rain to attend the Mucky Duck Run in Poulsbo, WA, just because they wanted to go riding so bad. wet, and cold? and then some. they didn't care. well, they probably did, but it didn't keep 'em from jumping on their Buells and getting some on them. we've been best friends ever since. they and the Wood Bros. and family did indeed make the trek down from the NW for this BattleTrax, and they'll be back down for Donner, and for Laguna, and for... some people got it bad. these guys got it good. Looks like June 7th at the state fairgrounds for the MilwaukeeRally National B-Trax event. Followed on Sat. July 12th at West Bend, WI for the S.E. Wisc. series #1. Then Friday Aug. 22nd at Ukes for S.E.WI #2. Then Saturday Aug. 23rd at someplace (either at Hal's or thru Hal's at the state fair park) for S.E.WI #3. Back to back events. Then Saturday Sept. 20th at SuburbanMotors for S.E.WI #4. What day of the month is the National Series finals in Las Vegas? Does anyone know? Says confirmed but no day of the month or specific location. Also looks like no BattleTrax during the Harley 100th. Too bad, might have got more of the H-D crowd involved. |

yo cuz! the butt's fine - it's getting easier and easier to "unplug" from the seat after a long ride as time goes by. (KY helps a bunch...) right shoulder hurt for a coupla days, no biggie. took a BUNCH of work to hand-machine the flat spots outta the pipes, but now it's almost impossible to tell they were ever on the ground. the deep K&N filter element really prevented a lot of damage to the right side of the bike, but sacrificed itself in the process, along with the CF cover. until i find a replacement assembly i like better, i'm running the shallow K&N element from the BLURR, under the chrome ham-can that originally came off my '86 883. am picking up a pair of new rear turn signals tomorrow, which'll just leave the front brake lever to replace and Thong will be back to norml. this is the first i've heard of any "Sportbike Games" - more details, please? Ferris I cant speak for my parents but the Oregon 250 is the same weekend. All of us have gone on that ride the last few years, so you had better start working the weather angle to sway us. Cody and I are off to Vancouver B.C. for a pocketbike race. Hoping for a Canadian cheering section. Stories to come. Mike PS- It's 70 today in the southern rain forest. |

I had a fun day.Went and played Battletrax with Mazda's.Mazda is having a big national contest where you go thrash Mazda's new 6 sedans on an autocross course, running against a pro drivers index. And I held up the Buell end of things by posting the second fastest time of the day and the 6th fastest of the meet, even beating a bunch of drivers with pro experience. What a blast, you all oughta try it if it comes to your area.Hell, they encouraged you to beat on them.It was held out at the old Alameda NAS and was right on the bay and about 78 degrees--rode the Buell down,of course. |
